YouTube is making significant changes to how users discover content. Starting July 21, 2025, the platform will permanently remove its “Trending” and “Trending Now” sections — features that have been part of the platform since 2015.
The decision comes after a noticeable decline in user visits to the Trending page over the past five years. Users now rely more on Shorts, search suggestions, comments, and community posts to find popular content.
To replace Trending, YouTube will introduce new category-specific charts that highlight the most popular content across various segments. Currently available on YouTube Music, these charts showcase trending music videos, podcasts, and movie trailers, with more categories to be added soon. Gaming enthusiasts can still find trending content on the YouTube Gaming Explore page.
Content creators, who previously relied on the Trending section to gauge video performance, will now have access to personalized insights via the “Inspiration” tab in YouTube Studio.

A total of 74,000 coaches and 15,000 engines across the country will be equipped. Video footage will be analyzed using AI technology to help prevent train-related crimes.
The bridge collapse in Vadodara, Gujarat, has been attributed to serious administrative negligence, according to a high-level committee report. Based on the findings, the government has suspended four engineers, and the Chief Minister has ordered a review of the condition of other bridges in the state.
Back in 2022, the government had received early warning signs when parts of the bridge began to deteriorate. A letter from a local panchayat member to the Roads and Buildings Department warning about the potential danger has also surfaced. However, authorities failed to restrict or prohibit traffic on the structurally compromised bridge. Even the construction of a new bridge was delayed due to administrative inaction.
The high-level committee submitted its preliminary report after examining the bridge’s structural integrity, maintenance records, and repair history. It concluded that timely action was not taken by officials, leading to the disaster.
Following this, four engineers from the engineering department have been suspended immediately. The Chief Minister has now called for a comprehensive inspection of all other bridges in the state.
The Roads and Buildings Department — which has shown gross negligence — functions under the direct authority of the Chief Minister.
Karachi: In Pakistan’s Balochistan province, a group of armed militants shot dead nine passengers after identifying them through ID cards. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, targeting a bus traveling from Quetta to the Loralai district in Punjab province.
On Friday, militants intercepted the bus, checked the identity documents of passengers, and singled out nine individuals identified as Punjabis. The victims were then forcibly taken to a nearby mountainous area and shot dead.
Ashfaq Chaudhary, an administrator from Dera Ghazi Khan district in Punjab, confirmed that the attack specifically targeted Punjabis. Authorities later recovered the bullet-ridden bodies from the area.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, officials suspect the involvement of Baloch separatist militants, as similar incidents have occurred in the past targeting Punjabi settlers in the region.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) — one of the most active insurgent groups in Balochistan — is believed to be behind such attacks. The group has long opposed the Pakistani government’s exploitation of the province’s rich natural resources, claiming that Balochistan is being plundered for the benefit of Punjab. Balochistan borders both Afghanistan and Iran and is rich in minerals and other natural wealth.
Palakkad: A Fire Force official has been suspended for demanding a bribe in exchange for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The Vigilance Department took action against Hitesh, a fire officer from Palakkad, after he was found guilty of the accusation.
The issue arose when a building owner from Palakkad approached Hitesh for renewing a three-star license, which required a fire NOC. However, Hitesh allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹1,00,000 for processing the renewal. Following a formal complaint from the building owner, the Vigilance Department conducted an inquiry and recommended the suspension of the official.

In Kerr County alone, the hardest-hit area by the heavy rains, 161 people are unaccounted for. So far, 19 adults and seven children have not been identified. There is also criticism against Trump’s policy that natural disasters should be handled by individual states. However, he maintains that the disaster was unpredictable.
Thiruvananthapuram: The nationwide strike called by joint trade unions against central government policies has entered its ninth hour, creating a ‘bandh’-like atmosphere across Kerala.
