Kerala, July 24, 2025 – Gold prices in Kerala saw a sharp decline today, providing relief to buyers after reaching a record high of ₹75,000 per sovereign. The price of 22-carat gold fell by ₹125 per gram, settling at ₹9,255, while one sovereign (8 grams) decreased by ₹1,000 to ₹74,040.
Other gold variants followed suit. The price of 18-carat gold dropped by ₹105 per gram to ₹7,590. Meanwhile, 14-carat gold reached ₹5,915 per gram, and 9-carat gold stood at ₹3,810 per gram. Silver prices remained unchanged at ₹125 per gram.
In the international market, gold prices also declined, with one ounce priced at $3,382. Experts predict continued volatility in gold rates due to global economic factors.

New Delhi: The Central Government has dismissed reports claiming that the death sentence of Nimishapriya, a Malayali nurse imprisoned in Yemen, has been revoked. Official sources in the Ministry of External Affairs clarified that no such information has been received.
The claim had been made by Evangelist K.A. Paul, who recently asserted through a video shared on social media that Nimishapriya’s death sentence had been cancelled. However, government sources confirmed that no official progress has been made in the case.
Samuel Jerome, who is actively working for Nimishapriya’s release, also stated that K.A. Paul’s claim is false.
Meanwhile, the Save Nimishapriya International Action Council has submitted a petition to the Central Government, urging them to send a mediation team to Yemen to negotiate her release. This follows a recent Supreme Court directive recommending that a representative team be sent to Yemen.
Based on this, the action council proposed a delegation including K.R. Subhash Chandran, N.K. Kunhammed Kooraachund, and Sajeev Kumar. Additionally, representatives of A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar, namely Hussain Saqafi and Hamid, were also suggested to be part of the team to be sent to Yemen.
Kochi: The Kerala High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Zainul Abideen Karumbal, the fifth accused in the question paper leak case. Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, who delivered the verdict, observed that the incident amounted to a betrayal of students.
The court noted that the question paper leaked through a YouTube channel bore striking similarities to the actual exam paper, making custodial interrogation of the accused essential.
Highlighting the seriousness of the charges, the court stated that granting bail in such a case would undermine public confidence in the general education system.
“If the question paper has indeed been leaked, it is an act of deception against students who have prepared day and night for the examination,” the court observed, further emphasizing the need to uphold the sanctity of the examination process.
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has received a complaint against online e-commerce platform Myntra and its associated entities for alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The complaint points to irregularities involving foreign exchange transactions worth ₹1,654 crore, highlighting violations related to multi-brand retail trade, which is regulated under the FDI policy.
According to ED, Myntra is accused of receiving foreign investment under the pretext of wholesale trading, while actually engaging in direct retail operations with consumers, which violates FEMA rules. The investigation also revealed that retail sales were conducted through Vector E-Commerce Pvt. Ltd., an entity linked to Myntra.
The ED has found that both wholesale and retail operations were conducted simultaneously, allegedly to bypass legal restrictions. It was determined that these transactions violated Section 6(3)(B) of FEMA, resulting in foreign exchange dealings amounting to ₹1,654.35 crore.
