Riyadh: The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned public transport in Saudi. The order will go into effect from 6 am on Saturday. The order applies to domestic flights, buses for public transport, train services, and taxis. Services will be suspended for six to 14 days Saturday morning. But private-owned buses can also be used for buses. Cargo planes and trains will operate as usual.

As of Thursday night, the number of Covid 19 cases in the country had reached 274. 36 people were newly diagnosed with the disease. Of these, 21 are in Riyadh. The condition of the two men continues to deteriorate. Eight people were released from illness. Most people diagnosed with the disease were from abroad.

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has canceled 8th and 9th standard exams. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting convened by the chief minister. The cabinet had earlier decided to take up to seven exams.

The meeting decided to postpone all the examinations in the state including SSLC and Higher Secondary. University exams also postponed. The update date will be announced later.

The Center and the UGC had earlier proposed postponing the exams, but the state was moving ahead with the decision to conduct the exams with caution. The exam was held with special facilities for students in Quarantine. The high-level meeting, which was held today, decided to postpone the exams because of the possibility of spreading the Covid community.

The decision to postpone the CBSE, ICSE and ISC exams was taken yesterday.

2000 crore loans through Kudumbasree, free ration for one month; CM with Economic Pack

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today announced the financial package of Rs.2000 cr.  He said Kudumbasree would be given Rs 2,000 crore as loan.

APL and BPL will provide one month’s worth of foodgrains to everyone throughout the state. The previously announced hotels will launch in early April. The food will be Rs.50 crore will be set aside for this purpose, he said in a press conference.

The Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme will be implemented in April and May at a cost of 1000 crore. The two-month social security pension will be paid later this month. 500 crores will be set aside for health packages only.

100 crores will be earmarked for distributing livelihood assistance, Chief Minister said.

Nirbhaya case: No stay in the death penalty; The all accused will be hanged by Friday

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the Nirbhaya case seeking a stay in the death sentence. With this, it was confirmed that the accused in the Nirbhaya case will be hanged at 5.30 am tomorrow.

Nirbhaya accused had filed a petition in the court stating that legal proceedings were still pending. However, the public prosecutor told the court no longer had any legal proceedings against the death penalty. Rashtrapathi did not consider the mercy plea given by the accused again, Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed said.

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has given 30 days to pay electricity and water bills in the wake of the Covid 19 alert. The 30-day delay was granted without penalty.

The CBSE, ICSE, SSLC, plus two exams have been postponed due to the spread of Covid-19. The UGC has instructed the universities to postpone all examinations. UGC universities have been asked to postpone all exams, including the exams currently underway. The UGC has said it will not conduct any assessment camps till the 31st of this month.

Indian Railways had earlier announced that 168 train services were canceled. The trains were canceled till March 31. The decision was taken in light of the lack of passengers on trains. The Railway has informed that those who have booked their tickets will be notified in person.

Chandigarh: One more person has died due to Coronavirus in India. Shaheed Bhagat Singh, a 70-year-old man from Italy who had arrived in Punjab via Germany has died. With this, the Corona death in India has been four. He was admitted to the isolation ward due to coronavirus and was in critical condition. The Central Health Department confirmed the death was caused by Covid19. Following his death, health officials sealed a three-kilometer road around his village and area. Meanwhile, the country has intensified its restrictions against corona. Train and flight services in the country temporarily canceled.
