Srinagar: Two militants were killed in a clash between militants and troops in Shopiana, Jammu, and Kashmir. One of those killed was a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander. The clash started on Sunday. Still going on.
The deceased Lashkar-e-Taiba commander was identified as Ishfaqdar. He was a Jammu and Kashmir police officer who resigned in 2017. The military operation was carried out jointly by the police, the army, and the Central Reserve Police.
Thiruvananthapuram: Concession on lockdown for three days from today in the state in observance of Eid. According to the government order, the restrictions have been relaxed today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow for celebrating Bakrid. The concession on Sunday comes after a long time. Therefore, the authorities have made it clear that the public should be wary of concessions.
The concession was given today at the weekend lockdown because of the demand of the traders for more concessions in observance of Eid. More businesses can be open today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow. In addition to the shops selling essential items, there will also be licenses for clothing shops, shoe stores, electronics shops, fancy shops, and gold shops. Permission is granted until 8 p.m. The exemptions are applicable within the limits of A, B, and C local bodies. Concessions have been granted in the D category local body limits for observing the festival for one day tomorrow.
Further exemptions will come into effect from tomorrow in the A and B category areas. Electronic shops, electronics repair shops, and home improvement stores will be open from Monday to Friday. The work permit is from 7 am to 8 pm.
However, liquor stores will not be open in the state today due to a lack of clarity in the government order regarding exemptions.
Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has said that the Zika virus outbreak is under control in the state. Preventive measures have been intensified. Fogging and vector control activities are underway. Active cases are rare. The minister said that vigilance activities are being carried out as there is a possibility of more coming.
Covid cases are being reported accurately, the health minister said. Studies show that one-third of those who are positive are from Kerala. The current situation is as expected.
The minister said that the inspection of districts with more than 10 confirmation rates shows that the ceremonies have led to the spread of the disease.
Weddings Clusters are formed according to house ceremonies and housewarming ceremonies. The minister warned that it was better to conduct the ceremonies as per the norms.
Mumbai: Twenty people have been killed in heavy rains in Mumbai since last night, while 11 people were killed when a wall collapsed in Chembur. More people are trapped in the debris, police said.

Sixteen people were hospitalized with injuries. A two-story building collapsed in Vikhroli, killing three people. Two are being treated for injuries. Bhubaneswar: Schools reopen in Odisha. The class will be conducted only for 10th and 12th class students. The schools will be reopened from July 26. Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary, Department of Education, said the schools would be operating in compliance with the Covid norms.
He also suggested that all teachers should be vaccinated against the Covid vaccine before the schools reopen. He also demanded that the district education officers check whether the Covid norms are being followed in the schools. Sahu said only 40 percent of students benefited from the online class due to poor internet access in many parts of the state. He added that 60 percent of students did not benefit from online education.
Thrissur: Massive fraud happening in the state in the name of SBI’s popular Yono application malfunction. The money was stolen by sending a message to fake mobile phones claiming to be from the bank. The Thrissur City Police Cyber Crime Unit has issued a warning in this regard. The messages are falsely received from the State Bank of India.
The message said that the customer’s SBI Yono application service has been interrupted and they need to click on the link below to update and resume. The police revealed that those who clicked on the link and gave the information thinking that the message was correct, lost money in the account. Believing that the message is genuine, the customer clicks on the link to access the bank’s website. There you will be asked to type your username, password, and OTP. The customer misrepresents that the bank is the real website. Information, including passwords, is being leaked to the scam’s fake website.
Do not trust SMS messages coming from fake SBI private mobile numbers.
2. Do not click on the unreliable link contained in the SMS.
3. Note the URL of the website used for banking transactions. Only transact with the correct web address of SBI or other banking banks.
4. If in doubt, contact your bank branch, police said.
Tokyo: Covid confirmed to the three athletes to the Tokyo Olympics. Of these, two live in the Olympic Village and one in a hotel. However, the authorities have not revealed their names. Covid confirmed 10 people related to the Olympics on the last day. This brings the total number of cases to 55. These include security personnel, journalists, and organizers.

Thiruvananthapuram: Lockdown relief in the state for three days from tomorrow. The government has relaxed the restrictions in the state regarding Bakrid. The exemption is in 18,19,20 days.
These days, apart from shops selling essential items (groceries, fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, bakery) in the A, B, and C categories, permission will be given to open clothing shops, shoe shops, electronics shops, fancy shops, and jewelry. It has permitted to operate these shops till 8 pm, guidelines said.
New Delhi: The central government has revised the price of covid vaccine purchased from companies. The new price is Rs 215.15 including tax for Covishield purchased from Serum Institute and Rs 225.75 for covaxin purchased from Bharat Biotech. Earlier it was Rs 150.
The government has placed an order for 66 crore doses of vaccine to be distributed from August to December. The dosage is Rs 37.5 crore from covishield and Rs 28.5 crore from covaxin.
Covshield is priced at Rs 205 tax-free and covaxin at Rs 215. At present, companies pay Rs 150 to the central government for two vaccines.
The companies provide the vaccine to the central government, state governments, and private hospitals at different prices. It is reported that after the new vaccine policy comes into force on June 21, the states will be fully vaccinated by the central government. Only private hospitals now buy directly from companies.
New Delhi: UGC recommends the completion of degree and PG admissions by September 30. The UGC has made this clear in its new guidelines for the next academic year. Degree and PG admission should be completed by September 30 and classes should start on October 1. Admission to vacant seats is open until October 31.
Degree admission can be started only after the completion of the State Board, CBSE, ICSE, and the declaration of results. The UGC also suggested that in case of any delay in the release of Class XII results, arrangements should be made to start the study on October 18. There is also a suggestion that the cancellation fee should not be charged until October 31 in view of the covid situation.
After that, if the application is withdrawn, a maximum of Rs 1,000 will be charged as a processing fee till December 31. The UGC guidelines also state that examination certificates can be accepted till December 31. It is also proposed to complete the final year and semester examinations by August 31.
