Suspected terrorist arrested in Bengal

Kolkatta: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) official has arrested a suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen militant from Bangladesh in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, an official said. Based on the intelligence, a team of NIA officials conducted a search in the Subhashgram area on Tuesday and arrested the Bangladeshi national.

Fake voter cards and Aadhaar cards were seized from the arrested terrorist. He is being questioned. Officials said they were trying to find out how and when he entered India. He added that several documents related to the terrorist organization were seized from him.

The district administration has denied permission for Friday prayers in Gurgaon

Chandigarh: The district administration has revoked permission for prayers at eight of the 37 places scheduled for Friday prayers in Gurgaon. The government said in a statement that the decision to cancel the permit was prompted by opposition from residents and resident welfare associations.

The statement added that the government’s consent is required for worship in public and open spaces. The statement said that prayers can be offered in any mosque, Eidgah, privately or at a designated place. The government has said it will not allow worshipers in other parts of the country if there is opposition.

The district administration has set up a committee comprising Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Assistant Commissioner of Police, and members of religious organizations and civil society to look into the matter and give permission for future prayers.

The district administration said the committee would discuss the issue with the communities to resolve the issue and ensure that the locals do not face any problem in performing prayers in the area.

Enforcement Directorate to file an affidavit in Kodakara money laundering case within two days

Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate has said that an affidavit will be filed within two days in the Kodakara money laundering case involving BJP leaders. The court heard a petition filed by Salim Madavoor seeking an inquiry into the Kodakara money laundering case. The petitioner alleged that the ED was assisting the accused without taking a stand. The petitioner contended that one of the accused had applied to the District Court for release of the vehicle and informed the court that there was no ED inquiry against them in it. The petitioner pointed out that the ED had assisted the accused in this way. The petition was adjourned for consideration next week.

Kochi: Feuok says theaters no longer need to release Marakar. Vijayakumar, the president of Feuok, said that all discussions related to the Marakkar film have ended.

Swapna granted bail in gold smuggling case

Kochi: Swapna Suresh, first accused in a gold smuggling case, granted bail. Bail was granted by the high court in the NIA case. Eight people, including co-accused Sarith, Rabins, Mohammad Shafi, and MA Jalal, have been granted bail.

Rabins, Shafi, and Ramis will remain in jail until the end of the cofeposa case. All except them will be released from jail soon. The NIA told the court that the case was of international standard. The NIA also said that people with high connections were involved in the case.

Swapna was released on bail a year after her arrest. She had earlier been granted bail in Customs and ED cases.

Road blockade by Congress activists in Vyttila without permission; DCC President First Accused

A case has been registered against the Congress leaders in the vehicle blocking agitation held in Kochi last day against the increase in fuel prices. Fifteen leaders, including the DCC president, have been named in the case. DCC president Mohammad Shias is the first accused.

The strike took place on the Vyttila National Highway. The national highway was blocked without permission. The FIR was registered by the Maradu police on charges of obstructing people.

VP Sajeendran, Deepti Mary Varghese, Tony Chammini and Dominic Presentation are also on the list. A case has been registered against about 50 people.
