Guwahati: ICMR has developed a two-hour test kit available for confirming Omicron. The kit was developed by ICMR’s Regional Medical Research Center in Dibrugarh, Assam.

Steps have been taken since November 24 to develop the Dibrugarh ICMR for the kit. Omicron, which has the potential to spread rapidly, is under scrutiny at airports and elsewhere. This eliminates the need to wait for hours for a test result.

 Officials said samples of 1,000 covid patients had been tested through the kit, including in countries where Omicron is widely distributed. The experiment was led by ICMR -RMRC Senior Scientist Dr. Biswajyoti Borkakotti. The licensing process for the kit is in progress. The license will be available by next week, officials said. The kit is being manufactured commercially by Kolkata-based GCC Biotech. In India, Omicron cases have been reported in Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Chandigarh.

The exact cause of the accident can be ascertained only after the data recorder’s test results are released. The Army has also deployed more officers in the investigation team led by Air Marshal Manvendra Singh. A parallel investigation by the Tamil Nadu police is also in progress.

Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will be guests on Republic Day. This is the first time in the country that Central Asian countries are attending the event as guests. The 2018 ASEAN Summit was attended by all countries together.

With the participation of these countries in Republic Day, the relationship with India will be further strengthened. Former US President Barack Obama in 2015, former French President Francois Hollande in 2016, and UAE ruler bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2017 were among the distinguished guests.

Center to 10 states including Kerala to strengthen Omicron vigilance

New Delhi: The Center has issued an alert to ten states, including Kerala, in the wake of the Omicron, the variant of covid. The Union Health Ministry has directed to increase vigilance in 27 districts where covid positivity is high. In Kerala, Kottayam, Wayanad, Idukki, Kollam, Ernakulam, Kannur, Thrissur, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts are included in this list.

Omicron has so far confirmed 33 cases in the country. Another case was confirmed in Delhi today. The review meeting was convened under the chairmanship of the Union Cabinet Secretary to discuss the current situation. Omicron has been confirmed for 33 people in five states.

Most of the patients are in Maharashtra. A ban has been announced in Mumbai. Apart from Maharashtra, Omicron is present in Karnataka, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

The suspects were on their way to Hyderabad from Dubai with 7.3 kg of gold. According to customs, the suspects were trying to smuggle gold worth Rs 3.6 crore. Customs said a case has been registered in the incident and an investigation is underway.
