Vaccination of children for three days from today

Thiruvananthapuram: A special vaccination drive for children will be organized in the state today, tomorrow, and on the 27th. The aim is to vaccinate as many children as possible in view of the opening of the school.

The vaccination campaign for children is organized in collaboration with schools, residents’ associations, and volunteers.
Vaccination is available in major hospitals these days.

The vaccine can be obtained by registering through the Cowin portal or by registering directly at the vaccination center. School ID card or Aadhaar must be brought. The minister also said that it should be ensured that all children of this age are vaccinated.

The minister gave the directive at a meeting of the state rapid response team. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, Department of Health, Director, Department of Health, Additional Directors, Deputy Directors, RRT members, District Medical Officers, District Program Officers, and District Surveillance Officers.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris also strongly condemned the shooting. Harris said the incident was heartbreaking and would take strong action to find the culprits and prevent such incidents from happening again.

Alappuzha: Two arrested for chanting anti-child slogans at a Popular Front rally. Ansar Najeeb, a resident of Erattupetta, and Popular Front Alappuzha district president PA Nawaz Vandanam were arrested for carrying the child on their shoulders. Both were taken into custody yesterday and were being questioned. The arrest was registered yesterday evening.

Police said Ansar was not a relative of the arrested child. District police chief G Jayadev told media persons that a decision on whether to charge the child’s parents would be taken only after a detailed investigation. Police are trying to identify people chanting slogans with the child from the scene. After this, they will be taken into custody. Action will soon be taken against the state and district leadership of the Popular Front, the organizers of the protest.

Apart from the police, the state child rights commission has also registered a case. The Child Rights Commission has written to the district police chief asking him to file a report within seven days. The child who shouted the slogan has not yet been identified.

Five killed in Road accident in Uttar Pradesh

The group was visiting Kedarnath in Uttarakhand when the accident happened. There were a total of 11 people in the car. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police say speeding was the cause of the accident.

The verdict in Vismaya Case; Kiran Kumar sentenced to 10 years in prison

Kollam: The verdict came in the Vismaya case awaited by Kerala. The court sentenced the accused and her husband, Kiran Kumar, to 10 years in prison. The sentence was passed by the Kollam Additional District Sessions Court. The court had yesterday found Kiran guilty in the case. The court upheld all the arguments of the prosecution.

Kiran said that he had to look after the family and that his father was an old man and therefore the sentence should be commuted. But Kiran Kumar told the court that Vismaya was suicidal and that he was not guilty but innocent. The prosecution argued in court that the case was not against the individual and therefore had no sympathy for the defendant. The prosecution had told the court that the verdict should set an example for the society.

Vismaya, a resident of the area, was found dead on June 21 at her husband’s house. The couple got married on May 30, 2020. Asst. Kiran, who was a motor vehicle inspector, was dismissed from the service after being charged.

Eight killed in road mishap in Karnataka; Twenty-five people were injured and the death toll is expected to rise, officials said

Hubballi: At least eight people were killed and 25 others injured when a lorry collided with a private bus in Karnataka’s Hubballi-Dharwad district on Friday. The accident took place on the Pune-Bangalore National Highway at 12.45 am on the outskirts of Hubballi near Tarihal.
Police said the truck collided with a private bus carrying rice bags on the bypass.

Six people traveling in the bus died at the scene and two others were taken to hospital. Authorities said the death toll could rise as many of the injured were in critical condition. The 25 injured passengers were admitted to Kims Hospital in Hubballi.

Most of the dead were traveling from Kolhapur in Maharashtra to Bengaluru, police said. Hubballi-Dharwad Commissioner Labhu Ram visited the spot. Hubballi North Traffic Police have launched an investigation.

Food poisoning on the train to Thiruvananthapuram: About 20 people were admitted to the hospital

Thiruvananthapuram: Twenty people, including children, were admitted to the Thrissur General Hospital due to food poisoning during a train journey. Those who went to Thiruvananthapuram by train were affected by food poisoning. Four children and two adults are currently in critical condition.

Others received first aid. The food poisoning occurred in a group traveling from Mookambika to Thiruvananthapuram.
