Passengers can now book 24 train tickets per month online

New Delhi: Railway passengers can now book more tickets online. Indian Railways’ new decision is part of its efforts to provide more facilities to passengers. Under the new order, the number of tickets that can be booked online per person per month has been increased to 24.

Those who are not linked to Adhar can book up to a maximum of 12 tickets a month. Those who were previously connected to Aadhaar could only book six tickets a month and those who were not 12 a month. The decision of the Railways was taken because of the constant demand of the passengers to change this limit.

Shigella was also confirmed in the Palakkad district

Palakkad: Shigella’s confirmation again raises concern in the state. Shigella disease was confirmed in Palakkad.  The district medical officer said Shigella bacteria was the cause of food poisoning in two places in the district. Shigella’s presence was confirmed by testing the blood and feces of those treated at the hospital for food poisoning. The health department has warned the public to be vigilant.

Daughter beats mother brutally: Human Rights Commission

Kollam: The Human Rights Commission has ordered an inquiry into a complaint that a sick mother was tied up and beaten by her daughter in Pathanapuram.

Commission member VK Beenakumari issued the order to the Kollam Rural District Police Chief. The report should be submitted within 15 days.

A member of the Nadukunnam ward of Pathanapuram panchayath, who was questioned about the harassment, also complained that he was attacked.

Leena’s mother was beaten by Leena at her house in Palappally on Sunday afternoon. It is said that the harassment was for snatching the house. She was tied to an iron pole in the backyard and beaten. The injured panchayat member is in hospital.  The action was taken in a case registered suo moto by the commission based on news.

Mass shooting at a church in Nigeria; Fifty people were killed

Abuja: At least 50 people have been killed in a shooting and bomb blast at a mosque in Nigeria. The shooting took place during Holy Mass at St. Francis Catholic Church. The gunmen opened fire on the worshipers and hurled explosives at them.

The church was reportedly attacked by a group of four people. Several women and children were reported killed in the attack. Many of the seriously injured are being treated in hospitals. Authorities said the death toll could rise further as the injuries were serious.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. Pope Francis has expressed his condolences on the death of the people. Nigerian President
Mohammed Buhari also condemned the attack.

26 killed as bus plunges into Ravine

Uttarkashi buss accident

Uttarkashi: At least 26 people were killed when a bus plunged into a ravine near Uttarkashi Dam in Uttarakhand. Two people were injured. The bus was carrying 28 pilgrims from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh to Yamunotri.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhomi said the local government and SDRF teams were involved in the rescue operation and the injured were being rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The district administration has been directed to provide proper treatment to the injured and expedite the rescue operation. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said arrangements have been made to treat the injured and transport the bodies to Madhya Pradesh.

Cabinet reshuffle in Odisha: 21 ministers sworn in

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has reshuffled his cabinet. A total of 21 MLAs were sworn in today to replace the ministers who resigned after being asked by the chief minister. The new cabinet, which focuses on youth, will include five women ministers. The new cabinet was formed following the resignation of 20 ministers in Odisha on Saturday.

In the run-up to the 2024 general and assembly elections, the reshuffle was aimed at bringing in new faces and bringing in young and experienced leaders from the BJD into the cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the new Convention Center at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.

A total of 21 ministers, including 13 cabinet ministers and eight cabinet ministers were sworn in in the state cabinet headed by Naveen Patnaik.

Five women MLAs, including three cabinet ministers, have been included in the cabinet. In the last cabinet, there were only two women in the cabinet.

Prameela Mallik, Usha Devi and Tukuni Sahu are the new women ministers.

Jagannath Saraka, Niranjan Pujari, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Prafulla Kumar Mallik, Pratap Kesari Deb and Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak were also sworn in as new ministers among Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLAs. In addition, Governor Ganesh Lal administered the oath of office to Pradeep Kumar Amat, Naba Kishore Das, Ashok Chandra Panda and Rajendra Dholakia.

Sameer Ranjan Dash, Ashwini Kumar Patra, Preethi Ranjan Gharai, Sreekanta Sahu, Thusharkanthi Behra, Rohit Pujari, Rita Sahu and Basanti Hembram were among the MLAs who were included as ministers (independent charge).

It is reported that ministers out of the cabinet are likely to get important responsibilities next time.

Chennai: Seven girls drowned to death while bathing in a river. The incident took place in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. The girls drowned while bathing in a river dam. The others were rescued while rescuing two children who were trapped in a vortex near the barrier.

Children between the ages of ten and eighteen died. The deceased have been identified as Monisha (16), R Priyadarshini (15), sister R Divya Darshini (10), M Navneeta (18), and K Priya (18), S Sangavi (16), and M Kumuda (18). Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Norovirus infection confirmed in two children in Vizhinjam

Thiruvananthapuram: Two children in Vizhinjam have been diagnosed with norovirus infection. Two children were found to be infected with the norovirus during a test conducted on food poisoning students at Venganur Lunch LM LP School yesterday. Forty-two children were being treated for food poisoning.

The norovirus infection was confirmed when samples from two children with diarrhea were tested. Norovirus can be transmitted through water or food. Symptoms of norovirus include diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, fever, headache, and body aches.

Monsoon from June 7: Widespread rain for five more days

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that the monsoon will begin in the state from June 7. The Central Meteorological Department said that the monsoon will be active in Kerala as well as other southern states. The department also forecast heavy rains with thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next five days.

Yellow alert continues in three districts of the state today. Yellow alert has been declared in Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad districts today. Yellow alert will be issued in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts tomorrow. Caution has also been issued to fishermen going to sea.

Hyderabad gang-rape Case: Fourth accused including minor arrested

Hyderabad: Two more people have been arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a minor girl in a car. With this, the number of those arrested in the case has increased to five. Police said all the accused were Plus Two students.

The girl was brutally raped inside the car on May 28. The incident took place at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. A 17-year-old girl was gang-raped in a car on the pretext of taking her home. Police said a case has been registered against them under various sections including POCSO and the investigation is progressing.
