New Delhi: Export of broken rice banned. Export duty of 20% was also imposed on various grades of rice. The action is to prevent a price rise.

Exports as per earlier agreements have been relaxed till September 15. A 20 percent export duty has been imposed on rice other than Basmati from today. India, the world’s largest producer of rice, exports rice to more than 150 countries.
This time, India imposed restrictions on rice exports, anticipating that bad weather and lack of monsoon would severely affect paddy cultivation. Pakistan, another major rice producer, has been hit hard by floods and heat waves. It is estimated that this will cause a huge price increase in the international market as well.

Chennai: Â Four Malayalees died in a car accident in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi. The accident happened this morning while returning from Palani temple.
10 relatives of the deceased went to Thoothukudi yesterday to visit the temple in Innova. The accident happened after it collided with a bus after returning. Six relatives are undergoing treatment in a private hospital. They went to Tamilnadu in connection with the baby’s hair cutting ceremony.
Meanwhile, a car rammed into the back of a parked van near Parashala Kurumnkutty RTO check post in Thiruvananthapuram, injuring three people. Shahul, couple Hameed, Shakina and their son Abdul Rahman, natives of Nagercoil, were admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
Abdul Rahman’s condition is serious. The accident happened when he was returning home from Thiruvananthapuram airport. The car hit the back of the van which was parked near the RTO check post. The front of the car was completely destroyed.It is concluded that the cause of the accident was lack of light at the check post and drizzling rain.
New Delhi:  Supreme Court granted bail to Malayali journalist Siddique Kappan. The Supreme Court granted bail in the UAPA case filed by the UP government. The family approached the Supreme Court when the Mathura court and the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court did not grant bail to Siddique Kappan. The UP government had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court last day stating that Siddique Kappan had close ties with the Popular Front.
The UP government alleges that Siddique is an active member of the Popular Front, which provides financial support to terrorist organizations. In the affidavit given in the Supreme Court, the UP government had pointed out that if Kappanis granted bail, the lives of the witnesses in the case are threatened.
Siddique Kappan was arrested by the UP police while he was going to report the rape and murder incident in Hathras.

Strong winds and bad weather conditions with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph at times up to 55 kmph are likely over Kerala – Lakshadweep coast till September 09 and Karnataka coast till September 10. Therefore, the Central Meteorological Department said that it is not advisable to go fishing.

New Delhi: Rajpath, the most important road in the national capital, will be known as Kartavya Path from today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kartavya Path and unveil the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at 7 pm today.
The reason behind the name change is the Prime Minister’s declaration that the vestiges of colonial rule will be wiped out and the spirit of slavery will be eradicated. This Rajpath, which was known as ‘Kingsway’ during British rule, will be known as Kartavya Path from today. After independence, the Hindi version of Kingsway became Rajpath. It was changed to ‘Kartavya Path’ as part of avoiding the British influence in the name. As part of the Rs 13,500 crore Central Vista development projects, the project to beautify the India Gate and Vijay Chowk areas, which cost Rs 608 crore, was started in February last year.
Bridges connecting canals on both sides with footpaths and a beautiful lawn on the sides have been prepared.
