Kottayam: Action against the police officer in case of stealing mango from a fruit shop in Kanjirapally. The Idukki district police chief has ordered that PV Shihab, a native of Vandanpatal, a civil police officer of the Idukki AR camp, has been suspended.

Kanjirapally police have registered a case against Shihab. The case is based on the complaint of Nasser, who runs a fruit shop in Kanjirapally town. Shihab, who returned from duty at Kottayam Medical College, stole 10 kg of mangoes last Friday at four in the morning.
Shihab, who works at Idukki Police Headquarters, was on duty at Kottayam Medical College that day. On his way back to his home in Mundakkayam on his scooter after duty, he stole mangoes from the fruit shop at Kanjirapalli Parathot. Here the mangoes were covered in baskets by the roadside. After stopping the scooter, Shihab stole the mango and put it in storage under the seat of the scooter.
In the morning, when he came to trade, he realized that the mangoes had been stolen. According to the complaint given to the police by the owner of the fruit shop, Nasser, 10 kg of mangoes worth Rs. 600 were stolen. The CCTV footage installed in front of the shop caught the officer.

Thiruvananthapuram: Three people drown to death in Vithura Kallar after being swept away by the current. The deceased have been identified as Safan, Firoz and Jawad, natives of Beemapally. Two of the five people who were swept away were rescued by the locals. The accident happened to a group that had come for an excursion.

There was a large flow in the river due to the rains the previous day. Locals tried to save them but they got swept away.

Palakkad:  Police took action in case of death of a mother and newborn child related to medical malpractice at Palakkad Thangam Hospital. The police action followed the medical board’s report that the death of Aishwarya and her newborn baby, a native of Thathamangalam, was due to medical malpractice.

Palakkad Town South Police took the statements of doctors Ajith, Nila and Priyadarshini. The arrest of the doctors was recorded.
Aishwarya, a native of Thathamangalam, and her newborn child died in early July. Both deaths were in close proximity. The family had alleged that the doctors who treated Aishwarya made a mistake.

25-year-old Aishwarya, who was pregnant, was admitted to Thangam Hospital in the last week of June. The doctors had initially said that she would need a cesarean. Later they said normal delivery was enough. The child was extracted using a vacuum. Meanwhile, Aishwarya suffered from excessive bleeding. She was later transferred to the ventilator but died. The newborn baby died the next day.
The family was adamant that the death was due to medical malpractice. The umbilical cord was wrapped around the newborn baby’s neck. The post-mortem report states that the baby was taken out with a vacuum and the baby’s body showed signs of this.

The husband had alleged that the hospital authorities did not provide any accurate information about Aishwarya’s health. Name of the treatment was mentioned in the consent forms and signatures were obtained compulsorily. Didn’t even know the uterus was removed.
This was informed when the hospital authorities were asked about it. The family also asks how the doctors who said that the bleeding stopped when the uterus was removed, then say that the cause of death was bleeding.

Thiruvananthapuram:  Due to the formation of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, rain is likely in all districts of Kerala till Saturday. There is a warning that there will be heavy rain in isolated places. No specific warning has been issued in any district. Fishing is also not restricted.

Yesterday, the Central Meteorological Department warned that there is a possibility of isolated rain with thunder and lightning in the state till October 5. The State Disaster Management Authority has suggested that precautions should be taken from the time the clouds start to be seen.
