Kochi: Huge drug hunt in Kerala’s offshore. The Navy seizes 200 kg of heroin from an Iranian boat. The Indian Navy caught the drugs being smuggled from Pakistan to Iran.
The boat was caught by a team of the navy which was patrolling 1200 nautical miles from the coast of Kochi. 200 kg of heroin, a deadly drug, was recovered from the boat. 6 Iranian nationals were arrested. The processed drugs were being smuggled from Pakistan to Iran. The group’s goal was to reach Iran by traveling through the Indian Ocean.
The seized boat and drugs were brought to the Kochi coast and handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau. NCB has taken up further investigation. The Coastal Police has also launched a parallel investigation. The initial conclusion is that the drugs did not reach India. The matter will be clarified only after the interrogation of the arrested persons is completed.
Bangkok: Shooting at a daycare center in Thailand killed 31 people. The attack took place in Thailand’s northeastern province. Thai police said that among the dead were children and adults.
Initial information is that the shooting was done by a former police officer. A search has been launched for the man who escaped after the shooting.
In the wake of the incident, the Prime Minister of Thailand has issued a warning in the country. Incidents of this type of violence are rare in Thailand. But in 2020, 29 people were killed and 57 people were injured when a soldier fired at four locations.
Palakad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the Palakkad Vadakkanchery accident. A compensation of Rs 2 lakh was announced for the family of the deceased. Fifty thousand rupees will be given as compensation to those injured in the accident. After visiting the spot, Minister MB Rajesh said that the incident in Vadakkanchery was a terrible accident and the injured survived.
Minister K Krishnankutty Palakkad District Collector Mrinmai Joshi visited the incident site and assessed the situation.
Palakad: The bus driver, who eloped after an accident on the national highway in Palakkad Vadakkanchery, has been arrested by the police. While he was escaping to Thiruvananthapuram, Chavara police chased him and arrested him. He was chased by the Vadakancherry police. Two more people who helped him to escape were taken into police custody. The natives of Ernakulam and Kottayam were arrested. He was caught while going to see a lawyer.
The accident occurred when the tourist bus hit the rear of the KSRTC bus. About forty-two injured people were admitted to different hospitals. Nine people including teachers and students died. A tourist bus hit the back of a KSRTC super-fast bus going from Kottarakkara to Coimbatore. At the same time, ministers and senior leaders paid tribute to the dead children.
The injured are in Thrissur Medical College, Alathur Hospital and Palakkad District Hospital. At present 16 people are under treatment in Alathur Taluk Hospital. 38 children sought treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital.
The tourist bus was a group from Baselios Vidyanikethan School, Ernakulam, who had gone on an excursion to Ooty. There were 37 students, five teachers and two bus staff in the bus. Eyewitnesses say that the tourist bus was speeding.

New Delhi: Army’s Cheetah helicopter crashed near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. One pilot died. Lieutenant Colonel Saurabh Yadav died. The co-pilot was seriously injured. He was admitted to the military hospital. The accident happened around 10 am during a regular flight. The cause of the accident is not clear. The helicopter crashed at Nyamjang Chhu near BTK area of Jemaitang Circle.
Jammu: Security forces killed four terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian. The encounter took place in the early morning in the Drach area. Clashes continue in the Mulu region.
This is the second encounter in the district within 12 hours. After getting a clear indication of the presence of terrorists in the Mulu area, the security forces reached the spot and conducted an inspection.
But after the militants opened fire on the army, the inspection turned into an encounter, officials said.
