Kochi: Accused in AKG center attack case, Youth Congress worker Jithin gets bail. The order belongs to the High Court. Justice Biju Abraham’s bench gave the bail verdict. The court has granted bail to the accused with conditions.

In the bail plea, Jithin claimed that the case was fabricated and he was implicated in the case without any evidence. The state government strongly opposed the bail plea.

The government argued that there are many cases against Jithin and if the bail is granted, the investigation of the case will be affected. Thiruvananthapuram Atipra Mandal Youth Congress President Jithin was arrested by the Crime Branch on 22nd of last month.

The attack on the AKG center took place on the night of last June 30. The crime branch had issued a lookout notice for two other absconding persons.

Kochi: The Supreme Court rejected the request to change the trial court in the actress assault case. A bench headed by Justice Ajay Rastogi said that changing the trial court would create a wrong precedent and would not interfere with the High Court verdict.

The High Court rejected the plea of the actress to change the trial court. The actress approached the Supreme Court against this. The actress had argued in the court that if the present judge conducts the trial, she will not get justice and is worried that there will not be a fair trial.

It was alleged in the petition that the eighth accused Dileep had a close relationship with the trial court judge and her husband and there was evidence of this in the voice clips obtained by the police. But the High Court rejected the petition on the grounds that no evidence could be produced.

Kochi: Case against Minister Veena George. Ernakulam North Police registered a case against the minister. The case is on the complaint of crime editor TP Nandakumar.

Nandakumar complains that Veena George conspired to get a false case against him and influenced the police. Nandakumar had approached the Ernakulam ACJM Court after the police failed to file a case on the complaint.

Ernakulam North Police registered a case against eight people including Veena George as per the court order. Earlier, the police had registered a case against Nandakumar for defaming Veena George.

Thiruvananthapuram:  Widespread rain is likely in the state. Yellow alert declared in 9 districts. A yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kottayam districts. The Central Meteorological Department said that the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal is likely to become a cyclone. Another cyclone exists in the Arabian Sea near the Maharashtra coast. As a result, widespread rain is likely from today to October 22.

A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Those living in hilly areas that have received heavy rains in recent days should remain vigilant.

 Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely to occur over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining sea areas till Sunday with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and on some occasions up to 65 kmph. There is also a warning not to go fishing in these areas.

Kochi: High Court cancels Civic Chandran’s anticipatory bail in case of molestation of Dalit woman. The High Court’s action is in an appeal filed by the government and the survivor challenging the Kozhikode Sessions Court order granting anticipatory bail. In the event that the anticipatory bail is cancelled, the police can now take further steps including arrest.

Kollam: Kollam city Kilikollur police station suspended four officers on the complaint that brothers were beaten up by the police. Killikollur station house officer Vinod K, sub-inspector Anish A P, assistant sub-inspector Prakash Chandran and civil police officer Manikandan Pillai have been suspended. Kollam City District Crime Records Bureau Assistant Commissioner has been tasked to conduct a departmental inquiry against them and submit a report. South Zone IG P Prakash issued an order in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission has registered a suo moto case in the case of brutal beating of brothers at the station in Kilikollur, Kollam. Kollam district police chief investigated the complaint. Commission member V K Binakumari demanded that the report be submitted within 15 days.

 Thiruvananthapuram: Rape case accused Eldhose Kunnappilil MLA granted anticipatory bail with strict conditions. Thiruvananthapuram Additional Sessions Court granted anticipatory bail with 11 conditions.

 The court granted anticipatory bail to Eldhose with the condition that, do not leave Kerala, must appear before the investigation team between 22nd of this month and 1st of next month, 5 lakh rupees bail or two sureties equivalent, must surrender mobile phone and passport to the court, must not threaten or influence the complainant, must not make provocative posts on social media, if information of social media accounts is required by the investigating officers should give and not engage in similar offences.

The police initially registered a case of assaulting the young woman. In the statement given by the woman, the rape department was also charged. After this, the hearing in the bail petition was completed.

After the trial in the bail petition was over, the police charged Eldhose with attempted murder. The police have informed the court that additional charges have been filed against Eldhose. The MLA is currently charged with assault, rape, attempted murder and insulting women.
