Model gang-rape; Four accused were remanded in police custody for five days

Kochi:  All 4 accused in the Kochi model gang rape were remanded in police custody for five days. The police asked the court to check the mobile phones. The phones of the three accused were found and confiscated. But the police could not check because the password was not found. Now Dimple’s phone has to be found. There is evidence collection to be completed. The collection of evidence delivered to about eight places should be completed.

Meanwhile, there were dramatic scenes in the court. Two lawyers appeared in court for the fourth accused Dimple. Adv. Aloor and Adv. Afzal also appeared for the accused. Both of them had a dispute in court about the time. Amid the dispute, the magistrate warned that the court was not a market. Finally, Dimple informed the court that Adv. Afzal is her lawyer.
Meanwhile, the model had stated that the accused mixed intoxicant powder in beer and gave it to her. The police suspect that the woman’s friend and model, Rajasthani Dimple Lampa, connived in the torture. Dimple Lampa has attended various drunken parties in Kochi. Dimple’s transactions are being investigated in detail. The police are hoping that more clarity will come in this matter after the custodial interrogation and evidence gathering.

Firing on Assam-Meghalaya border: Five killed

Guwahati: Five people were killed in the firing in Mukro on the Assam-Meghalaya border. It is reported that there was a clash and firing in the area when the illegal smuggling of timber was stopped. Local residents alleged that Assam Forest Department officials fired the shots.
The incident happened around 4 am today. Four natives of Meghalaya and a forest department official from Assam were killed. Local residents say that the forest department officials first fired at the lorry that was transporting timber. The people in the lorry were taken into custody. Then many people gathered in front of the police station demanding the release of the vehicle and the release of those who were taken into custody. The initial report said that the police opened fire to disperse the crowd.

Deputy Inspector General Davis NR Marak, in-charge of the eastern range of Meghalaya, confirmed the incident. He said he was on his way to the scene. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma called a high-level meeting to assess the situation. An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced for the families of the victims. Meghalaya Police registered a case in the incident. Internet services in seven districts have been suspended for 48 hours in view of the possibility of conflict. Meanwhile, Assam Police has not yet responded about the incident.
The Assam-Meghalaya border dispute has been going on since 1972. Both the states had constituted three panels each in August 2021 to resolve the border dispute. After two rounds of discussions between the states, the Chief Ministers of both the states submitted the draft resolution for the Union Home Ministry’s consideration. Assam agreed to give 18.28 sq km to Meghalaya. An agreement was reached in the first phase of settlement in respect of 36 villages. 

The case where the teacher molested the plus one student: Three more people were arrested

Thripunithura: Three more people were arrested in Tripunithura in a case where a teacher molested a plus-one student. School principal Sivakala, teachers Shailaja and Joseph were arrested. The action was taken for concealing the information despite knowing that the teacher had sexually assaulted the student. In the case, teacher Kiran Karunakaran (43) was arrested by the police yesterday at his house near Pattimattom Manthrakal Devi Temple.

The incident related to the case was on the 16th. The harassment took place while returning from participating in the school festival. The economically backward family could not afford to bring the girl to the arts festival. Taking advantage of this, the teacher decided to get the girl on a bike.

After the art festival, the teacher went home with the girl on a bike at around 8 pm and tortured the child. The information was reported to the school authorities the next day, but they were negligent in informing the police. When the child shared his ordeal with her classmates, the police came to know about it and registered a case.

Idukki: African swine fever confirmed again in Idukki. The disease was confirmed in the pigs of Karimmannur Vannapuram panchayath. The new epicenter is near the killing of more than 300 infected pigs in Karimannoor. The disease was discovered when the police sent samples for testing on a complaint that pigs had been killed by poisoning at a farm in Vannappuram Pattayakudi. Pigs within a one-kilometer radius of the place where the disease is confirmed will be killed tomorrow. More than 100 pigs will be killed in Kannur Vannappuram Kanjikuzhi panchayats.

Three terrorists arrested in Kashmir

New Delhi: The Supreme Court criticized private medical colleges for buying bonds from students. The court held that private colleges have no authority to demand bonds from students.

The court said that only governments have the authority to buy bonds and private medical colleges are not the government. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that private medical colleges asking for the bond is a shocking step.
