Thiruvananthapuram: Health card mandatory for employees of hotels, restaurants, and bakeries in the state from tomorrow. The additional time given by the government will end today. The license of establishments without health cards will be canceled. There will be a strict inspection from tomorrow. Employees were given two extensions for health cards.

All employees handling food items in all establishments that cook, distribute and sell food in the state must take a health card. A Certificate of Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format is required. According to the doctor’s instructions, tests including physical examination, vision test, skin diseases, sores and wounds, vaccinations, and blood tests for infectious diseases should be done.

The certificate should bear the signature and seal of the doctor. The validity of this health card is one year. Health inspectors will check the cleanliness and health card. In addition to institutions, unannounced inspections are conducted at check posts and markets as per public complaints.

Encounter in Pulwama, one terrorist killed

Srinagar: Clashes between terrorists and security forces continue in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. A terrorist was killed in an encounter at Padgampora in the Avantipora region on Tuesday morning, the army said. The security forces said that the investigation is continuing in the area.

The police had received secret information that terrorists were hiding in Padgampora. Based on this, the security forces reached the area for inspection. During the inspection, the terrorists opened fire on the army. With this, the security forces retaliated. According to reports, the terrorist was killed after an hours-long encounter.

On Sunday, a Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead by terrorists as he was going to the nearby market. Sanjay Sharma (45), who worked as a bank security employee, was killed.

Student stabbed to death at Punjab University

Chandigarh:  A Punjabi University student was stabbed to death inside the campus. The deceased was identified as Navjot Singh (20), a third-year computer science engineering student at Patiala University College of Engineering (UCOE).

A clash with a group of people who came from outside the college resulted in the murder. Navjot Singh was stabbed multiple times in the stomach. Another student also sustained head injuries during the scuffle. The student who was stabbed was immediately taken to the nearby Govt. Rajindra was rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved.

The police have started an investigation to nab the assailants by examining the CCTV footage.

Economic crisis, shortage of life-saving drugs in Pakistan

Islamab: Economic crisis in Pakistan has been going on for a long time.  In the wake of the crisis, there are reports that there is a shortage of life-saving medicines in Pakistan.  International media reports that surgeries have to be postponed as essential medicines and surgical instruments have not reached the hospitals.  Medicines including Panadol, Insulin, Brufen, Dispirin, Calpol, Tegral, Buscopan, Rivotril etc are in short supply.

 Raw materials for the manufacture of medicines in Pakistan are imported from countries like India and China.  Most of the medicines are bought from foreign countries.  Imports are not effective due to a shortage of dollars and the depreciation of Pakistan rupee.  Pakistan has suspended the payment of salaries and the passage of bills.

Istanbul:  Another earthquake worries Turkey.  A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Yesilurt in southern Turkey’s Malatya province.

 One person died and 69 others were injured in the earthquake.  The mayor of Yesilurt stated that many buildings were destroyed by the earthquake.

 It was reported that 48,000 people died in the massive earthquakes that occurred in Turkey and Syria on February 6.  Three weeks after the devastating earthquake, the earthquake struck again.

 International news agencies reported that many buildings damaged in previous earthquakes collapsed in the new quake.

 Akash is an accused in four cases in the past one month, including insulting a DYFI woman worker, in Muzukkunn and Mattannur police stations.

59 dead after refugee boat capsizes in Italy

Rom: 59 dead, 40 rescued after a boat carrying refugees capsizes off Calabria, Italy.  The search is on to find out if more people were involved in the accident.
It is reported that around 150 people were in the boat. The dead included children and women. The bodies of 27 people were found washed up on the shore.

People from Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan were on the boat. The accident happened when there was a short distance to land. The cause of the accident was bad weather and the boat hit a rock.

At the same time, Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said that the illegal delivery of refugees will be strictly prevented. Refugees arrive in Europe via the Mediterranean Sea in Italy. This is a very dangerous waterway. 20,333 people trying to cross this route to Europe have been killed or disappeared since 2014 alone.

Actress assault case; Pulsar Suni’s bail plea adjourned for judgment

Kochi:  High Court adjourned Pulsar Suni’s bail plea in the actress assault case. The High Court said that the bail petition is being considered as per the instructions of the Supreme Court. Various judgments favor the right of the accused.
The court also pointed out that bail will become a right when the accused remains in jail without trial for six years. But the government asked the court not to grant bail to Pulsar Suni.

Last time, the High Court had directed that statements against Pulsar Suni, including those of the survivor,  should be produced in the petition. Pulsar Suni argues that he is eligible for bail as he has been an undertrial prisoner for six years.

At the same time, the trial court judge Honey M Varghese asked the Supreme Court for another six months to complete the witness examination in the case. Dileep gave an affidavit in the Supreme Court showing that the reasons given by the prosecution for the trial are false. Dileep also objected to questioning Kavya Madhavan’s father and mother.

12 people arrested for spreading porn videos of children

Thiruvananthapuram:  Kerala Police has taken strict action against sexual crimes against children. Police have arrested 12 people for spreading porn videos and pictures of children between the ages of five and fifteen years. According to the police, those caught in the raid conducted across the state are high-ranking professionals working in the IT sector. As part of investigating crimes against children, 142 cases were registered across the state on Sunday alone. 270 devices including mobile phones, modems, hard disks, memory cards, laptops, and computers have been seized.

The police said that they have received information that children are being trafficked for sex. The police also stated that they got the information about it from the messages on the seized devices. The gang uses encrypted handles to upload and download videos and images of children. Police are also collecting details of other persons who circulated the pictures and videos. The police said that strong action will be taken against all the persons involved in this racket and there will be no compromise in this matter.

Simultaneous raids were conducted across the state from Sunday morning under the supervision of district police chiefs. Cyberdom IGP P Prakash appealed to the public to inform the CCSE, Cyberdom, and Cybercell if they get information about any social media groups or individuals spreading child sexual content. Viewing, distributing, or keeping any indecent images or pictures of children is a criminal offense punishable with imprisonment of up to 5 years and a fine of up to INR 10 lakh.
