Economic crisis, shortage of life-saving drugs in Pakistan

Islamab: Economic crisis in Pakistan has been going on for a long time.  In the wake of the crisis, there are reports that there is a shortage of life-saving medicines in Pakistan.  International media reports that surgeries have to be postponed as essential medicines and surgical instruments have not reached the hospitals.  Medicines including Panadol, Insulin, Brufen, Dispirin, Calpol, Tegral, Buscopan, Rivotril etc are in short supply.

Raw materials for the manufacture of medicines in Pakistan are imported from countries like India and China.  Most of the medicines are bought from foreign countries.  Imports are not effective due to a shortage of dollars and the depreciation of Pakistan rupee.  Pakistan has suspended the payment of salaries and the passage of bills.
