Go First crisis: Air ticket prices will rise again

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the government will take action against those who throw garbage in public places. Speaking to the representatives of the state’s local self-government bodies, the Chief Minister said that the local self-government bodies should find the required land for waste management and ensure source waste management before June 5.

The Chief Minister added that there should be a permanent solution to the waste problem by March 2024 and a new culture should be created in waste management. Since 2016, new steps are being taken in the field of waste management. The Chief Minister said that Harita Kerala Mission is the most notable among them. The Chief Minister added that the protests against the garbage plants were a tragedy. He demanded that the people should be convinced and corrected and the people’s representatives should be ready to remove the misunderstanding.

Local bodies should be able to be declared litter-free on Environment Day. Officers should ensure that the entire office is pollution-free. The Chief Minister also directed that all departments should play their role in waste management.

School shootings; 9 people including 8 children killed in serbia

Eight students and a security officer were killed in a shooting at a school in Serbia. Six children and a teacher were injured in the firing. The accused was arrested by the police.

A fourteen-year-old boy opened fire at a school in Belgrade. The police said that the accused came to the school with his father’s gun. The motive or cause of the attack is not clear.

The police said that the student of class 7 was arrested. In a statement, the police said that the injured are undergoing treatment and the cause of the shooting is being investigated.

Bilkis Bano case;  The Supreme Court said that the criminals are trying to avoid the current bench

New Delhi: The Supreme Court with important reference in Bilkis Banu case. Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagaratna said the culprits were trying to avoid the present bench from hearing the case.

 Justice KM Joseph, who presided over the bench hearing the case, will retire soon.  If the case is prolonged, he will not be able to pronounce the verdict.  The Supreme Court pointed out that the defendants are trying to avoid the current bench by taking advantage of this situation.  The Supreme Court expressed deep displeasure with this move.

 The lawyer sought an adjournment of the date for filing the counter affidavit in the case against the commutation of the convicts in the Bilkis Banu gang-rape case.

Chance of heavy rain; Orange alert in 4 districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Summer rains are lashing the state. The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there will be heavy rain in four districts on Wednesday.

An orange alert has been issued in four districts and yellow alert in six districts. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has advised people to be extremely cautious as strong winds and thunderstorms are likely to accompany the rain.

High Court rejected the plea to allow Vande Bharat to stop at  Tirur

Kochi: The High Court rejected the plea to allow Vande Bharat Express to stop at Tirur. The High Court stated that the Railways has the power to decide where the trains should stop and the court cannot interfere in this. The order was by Justice Bechu Kurien.

There is widespread criticism of Vandebharat not having a stop at Tirur. ET Muhammad Basheer MP responded that this cannot be justified in any way. ET Muhammad Basheer had also said that he would mobilize the masses against this neglect of Tirur, the main station of Malappuram, the most populous district in Kerala, and go ahead with a strong protest program.

At the same time last day stone pelting at Vandebharat train at Thirunnavaya in Malappuram was also a big news. The attack took place after leaving Tirur station during the Kasaragod – Thiruvananthapuram service. The train left Tirur station at 5 pm on Monday.

MV Govindan Master filed a defamation case against Swapna Suresh

Thiruvananthapuram: CPIM state secretary MV Govindan Master filed a defamation case against the Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case. The demand is to file a case under IPC sections 120B and 500. The court accepted the complaint on file.

Govindan Master’s Advocate has sent a notice to Swapna Suresh asking to apologize for the remarks in March. The demand in the notice was to withdraw the allegations made by Swapna and apologize through the media. Govindan Master also informed that if she does not apologize, action will be taken under civil and criminal law.

No stay on the judgment against Rahul in the defamation case

Ahmedabad: There is no stay on the Surat court verdict in the defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The court was hearing a petition filed by Rahul Gandhi seeking a temporary stay of the sentence pending the High Court’s order on his petition.

The Gujarat High Court has adjourned Rahul’s petition after vacation. The court did not urgently consider the demand to grant an interim stay to Rahul. The court will pronounce its verdict on Rahul’s plea on June 4 after the summer vacation.

The Surat court had sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in prison in a case filed against him for insulting the Modi community. After the verdict, the Lok Sabha Secretariat disqualified Rahul from the post of MP. During the 2019 election campaign, Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remark was made in a speech in Kolar. The action was taken on the complaint of BJP MLA Purnesh Modi.

Setback to Madani; The Supreme Court rejected the demand to reduce the security expenditure

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed the plea filed by PDP Chairman Abdul Nasr Madani seeking to reduce the cost of security required by the Karnataka government for going to Kerala. Karnataka Police demands Rs 2 lakh per month for police escort. Madani approached the Supreme Court against this. The Supreme Court clarified that the Karnataka government will not interfere in the proceedings.

A bench comprising Justices Ajay Rastogi and Bela M Trivedi heard the petition. Security personnel were appointed based on security threats and risk assessment for Madani. For this purpose, the Karnataka police had asked to deposit 2 lakh rupees per month. The Karnataka government informed the court yesterday that it would not be possible to reduce these escort expenses. The Karnataka Anti-Terrorism Cell filed a counter affidavit against Madani’s application against the demand of Rs 54.63 lakh for security matters till July 8.

MP’s poster case in Vandebharat; A fine of Rs 1000 each for five persons

Thiruvananthapuram: A fine of Rs 1000 was levied on five people including a panchayat member in the case of VK Sreekanthan MP’s poster being put up on the Vande Bharat Express train. Attappadi Puthur panchayat member and Puthur constituency Congress president Anakal Senthil Kumar (31), Kullamala Perumpulli PM Hanifa (44), Naduvattam Azhakankandathil Muhammad Safal (19), Keezhaiyur Pulladan Muhammad Hashid (19) and Kootala Muttichira M Kishore Kumar (34) are accused in the poster case. They were arrested but later released. The Railway Court released the accused arrested by the Railway Security Force on bail.

Apart from collecting the fine, the five accused were kept in the court until the court adjourned. RPF identified the accused in the case through CCTV footage. The case was registered under sections 145C (bothering passengers), 166 (pasting posters on trains), trespassing on railway premises, etc. of the RPF Act.

VK Sreekanthan MP’s posters were pasted on the Vande Bharat train when it reached Shornur railway station. The video footage of this was also released. The MP had said that the poster was not put up with his knowledge or consent and that the BJP was spreading false propaganda on social media. The RPF posters were removed before the train left the station.
