Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has said that monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala this time on June 4. The Meteorological Center also stated that there may be a change forward or backward for up to four days. At the same time, the Meteorological Department also said that there is a chance of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala till May 20.

Monsoon had already arrived in the state in May last year and got stronger. But this time, the Central Meteorological Department announces that the southwest monsoon will be delayed a little. The monsoon usually arrives on June 1. According to the warning of the Central Meteorological Department, there may be a change forward or backward for up to four days.

75 percent of the country’s annual rainfall is received through this monsoon. It is also the start of four consecutive months of rain. Usually, the Southwest Monsoon reaches the Kerala coast on June 1. But only once in the last five years has the monsoon started on June 1.

Monsoon arrived two days later in 2018 and 2022, and a few days later in 2019 and 2021. Therefore, weather experts estimate that even if it is delayed by four days this year, it will not significantly affect the total rainfall or the season.
