Today on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Kargil War Memorial to pay tribute to the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in the 1999 India-Pakistan war.

I salute those brave sons, who sacrificed everything for the protection of the motherland. I salute those brave sons who put the nation first and did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for it.”, said Rajnath Singh. He also added that if needed Indian Army won’t hesitate to cross the LOC (Line of Control). During his speech, he also said “We know that as long as you (soldiers) are protecting us on the borders, no one can even have the courage to raise their eyes towards India. Not only Kargil but many times since independence till today, your bravery has made the country proud from time to time”.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as a mark of respect laid a wreath and visited the tombstones dedicated to the departed soldiers. Before his return to New Delhi, Rajnath Singh will interact with Army officers and Jawans. Kargil Vijay Diwas War is observed to denote India’s victory over Pakistan.

On Twitter, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the soldiers who had lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. The tweet was in the Hindi language and he said ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas brings to the fore the heroic saga of those wonderful bravehearts of India, who will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen. On this special day, I bow down and salute him from the bottom of my heart. Long live India!’.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K Stalin also paid tribute and honoured Major Saravanan’s memorial in Trichy who died in the Kargil War. M.K Stalin also posted a tweet on Twitter by highlighting that ‘Today, commemorating India’s Kargil War victory in 1999, I paid my respects at Major Saravanan’s memorial in Trichy. Salute to the brave soldiers for their sacrifices during the #KargilWar.’

According to the reports, the popular Tamil actor Kamal Hassan with the support of the DMK Party may contest in the Coimbatore constituency.

The big news coming out is that the Tamil Superstar and popular actor Kamal Hassan may contest the Coimbatore constituency in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Through the sources of MNM (Makkal Needhi Maiam), it’s almost confirmed that DMK is interested to make an alliance with MNM. Considering the performance of Kamal Hassan in the 2021 Lok Sabha election DMK has shown interest to allocate the Coimbatore seat to Kamal Hassan.

In the previous 2021 general election, Kamal Hassan lost to BJP’s Vanathi Sreenivasan by a slim margin of 1,728 votes so this year the winning margin of Kamal Hassan may have the upper hand.

On Sunday in the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency, Kamal Hassan inaugurated the state-level reach-out campaign program of MNM called ‘Makkalodu Maiam’. The leaders of the MNM will visit and overlook the ward and panchayat levels and also the 234 assembly constituencies of Tamil Nadu to learn and understand the difficulties faced by the people. The party is planning to make the election manifesto based on feedback from people at the grassroots level.

The MNM party said that a list of 25 binary questions on basic amenities will be given to each ward secretary in a Google forum and it will be evaluated. The feedback will be used by the party to study and also to get a clear picture of each constituency. The MNM party officials of Coimbatore have requested Kamal Hassan to participate from Coimbatore in the 2024 General election.

In the discussion, Madhavan has brought into notice many crucial topics regarding the broadcasting sector in the country. He suggested the relevance of introducing a national policy on media and entertainment for the enhancement of broadcasting industry in the country. He pointed out that such a policy shall give better clarity to both media and governing bodies too. Notably, the PM has emphasized on the role played by Star Sports in upbringing Kabadi as one of the much accepted sports in the country after Cricket. They also discussed the possibilities of implementing similar ideas to enhance other sports too.

Imphal: Tensions continue in Manipur. Women-led assailants set fire to 10 vacant houses and a school. An armed group unleashed violence in Torbang Bazar of Churachandpur district. According to the police, hundreds of women were lined up around the attackers like a security shield.

The assailants opened fire several times and threw locally made bombs. The police also say that the women had formed a circle around them, so they refrained from firing back. Children’s Treasure High School in Torbang Bazar was set ablaze by the attackers. The crowd also tried to hijack BSF vehicles. But as the local team deployed in the area retaliated, the assailants abandoned their attempt to take the vehicle.
