CHANDY OOMMEN IS THE CANDIDATE IN PUTHUPPALLY, OFFICIALLY DECLARED BY CONGRESS. 

The Congress party officially announced Chandy Oommen as the Congress candidate for the bye-election to the Legislative Assembly of Kerala from 98 – Puthuppally Constituency.

The news coming from the world of Kerala Politics is that Chandy Oommen has been announced as the candidate in Puthuppally. Chandy Oommen, the UDF candidate, is the son of late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. When the byelection was announced, the results favoured Chandy Oommen. Candidate announcements were made after debates by congressional leaders at the AICC.

KPCC president K Sudhakaran announced the candidate with AICC support after consulting with key leaders including President Mallikarjun Kharge. According to KC Venugopal, there is no better candidate in Puthuppally than Chandy Oommen. KC Venugopal also said the announcement of the candidate within hours of the announcement of the election is a historic event.

Chandy Oommen stated that the party has entrusted him with significant responsibilities. Chandy Oommen said, working like his father is a significant task.

Only 27 days are left for the Pudupally byelection. August 17 is the last date for submission of papers in the constituency. Polling will be held in the constituency on September 5. The counting of votes for the Pudupally byelection will take place on September 8.

Film-director Siddique Dies Due To Cardiac Arrest

Siddique, a well-known director and screenwriter, died on Tuesday at around 9 p.m. He was 63. He died on Monday while being treated at Amrita Hospital in Kochi for a heart attack. Director B. Unnikrishnan addressed the media to reveal the demise of Siddique. Siddique was brought to the hospital on the 10th of last month due to liver disease. On Monday afternoon, Siddique had a heart attack and his health condition was critical. 

The name Siddique-Lal was a trend and they had directed many wonderful hit movies. In 1989 Siddique started his film career as a director and made the Super-Hit film Ramji Rao Speaking. Lal was the co-director of Siddique and their combo began to make many hit movies. The movies like In Harihar Nagar, Godfather, Vietnam Colony and Kabooliwala. Films like Nadodikkattu, Mannar Mathai Speaking, Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu, and Hulchul the remake of Godfather and King Liar were the best script producers by the Siddique Lal combo. 

However, the combo parted ways and Siddique began to direct the movie himself and Lal was more focused on acting and the movie production. The blockbuster film ‘Friends’ is one of the evergreen hits in the Malayalam film industry and it was later remade into the Tamil language by Siddique himself which was also a super hit. Chronic Bachelor was a comeback movie for Mammootty and one of the finest works of the director Siddique. ‘Bodyguard’ with actors Dileep and Nayanthara was a major hit and it was also remade into Tamil with Vijay titled Kaavalan, and Salmaan Khan in Hindi by Siddique. Both the remade versions were financially superhit.  Hitler, ‘Bhaskar Oru Rascal’, ‘Pappan Priyappetta Pappan’, Kingliar, Ladies and Gentleman, and Fukri are some of the famous movies of Siddique. The last movie of Siddique was the malayalam film Big Brother with Mohanlal, it was a commercial flop. 

The body will be placed for public viewing at the Kadavantra Indoor Stadium from 9 am to 12 pm tomorrow. The body of Siddique would thereafter be taken to his home. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Ernakulam Central Juma Masjid.

Uniform Civil Code – Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan introduced the resolution in the Assembly

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Kerala Legislative Assembly has expressed concern and displeasure over the central government’s move to impose a uniform civil code. In the resolution presented by the Chief Minister, the House is of the opinion that the unilateral and hasty central move is nullifying the secular character of the Constitution.

The Kerala Assembly expresses its concern and dismay at the Central Government’s move to impose a Uniform Civil Code. This House is of the view that the unilateral and hasty Central move is voiding the secular character of the Constitution.

The resolution also states that this House unanimously demands that the Central Government should refrain from hasty moves until a common approach is reached through discussions with various religious groups on issues affecting the entire people of the country.

Disruption of Rajya Sabha proceedings: Derek O’Brien suspended

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Speaker Jagdeep Dhankar has suspended Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien for raising slogans demanding a discussion on the Manipur issue. The suspension is till the end of the annual session.

Derek was suspended for continuously disrupting the proceedings, behaving in a manner unbecoming a Rajya Sabha member and disobeying the Speaker. Parliament leader Piyush Goyal had presented the resolution pointing to this issue . After O’Brien’s suspension, the session was in turmoil. Following this, the session was temporarily suspended.

Conspiracy to assassinate Volodymyr Zelensky; Young Russian spy arrested

Ukraine: A young Russian spy has been arrested on charges of plotting to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the security agency said. This was revealed by the Ukrainian security agency SBU.

In July, Zelenskiy visited flood-affected areas in southern Mykolaiv. The woman was working in a shop near the army base in the area. Here, the young woman captured pictures and scenes of the military centers.

Six trains from Thiruvananthapuram-Kottayam will be diverted via Alappuzha today

Kottayam: Six trains on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kottayam route will be diverted via Alappuzha today due to track maintenance. At Ernakulam North Railway Station, repairs are being made to the Kottayam-bound turning section. The work started yesterday. A system is being prepared to allow more speed at the junctions where the tracks meet.

Petition to cancel State Film Award; The High Court has sought a stand of the government

Kochi: The High Court has sought the state government’s opinion on the plea seeking cancellation of the announcement of the State Film Awards. It is suggested to give an explanation on the matter within four days.

While considering the petition, Justice Basant Balaji also directed the Secretary of the Department of Culture to be added as a party to the petition. The plea will be heard again on Friday.

The petitioner is Lijeesh Mullezhat, the director of the movie Akaashathinu Thazhe. The petition is alleging that director Ranjith interfered illegally in the decision of the award.

Evidence of nepotism and irregular interference on the part of the Academy Chairman in deciding the award has also come to light. In this case, the demand of the petition is that the announcement of the award should be cancelled.

The director Vinayan was the first to come forward with the allegation. He has also released some evidence regarding this. But Minister Saji Cheriyan’s response was that Ranjith was not involved in the decision of the award and that Ranjith is a legend.

Massive drug hunt in  Palakkad: 161 grams of MDMA was seized

Palakkad: Huge drug hunt in  Palakkad. A native of Malappuram was arrested with 161 grams of MDMA. Ashraf, a native of Tirur Chemmad, Malappuram, was arrested by the North Police.

The accused gave a statement to the police that he was trying to smuggle drugs from Bangalore to Malappuram. The accused was caught during a vehicle inspection near Olavakkode Thanav. The Narcotic drug worth Rs 3 lakh was seized in the market.

Film director Siddiq is hospitalized after suffering a heart attack. He is being treated at Kochi Amrita Hospital. He was hospitalized Monday afternoon after suffering a heart attack.

Siddique’s health is said to be critical. According to hospital authorities, he is currently on ECMO support. Siddique was suffering from pneumonia and liver disease and was under treatment. However, at three o’clock today, a heart attack struck unexpectedly, just as the diseases were fading.
