Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George’s personal staff Akhil Mathew and former CITu Pathanamthitta district office secretary Akhil Sajeev have been accused of accepting bribes. The complaint was filed by Haridasan, a resident of Mallappuram. According to the complaint, he was offered the appointment of a medical officer and received money in installments. Fifteen lakh rupees including ten lakh rupees were demanded for fixing the five lakh rupees for the temporary law. The complaint also states that he was assured that the appointment would be fixed before the change of administration. Meanwhile, the health minister’s office said Akhil Mathew had not received the money and asked the DGP to investigate the complaint. The DGP’s office forwarded the complaint filed by the minister’s office to the city police commissioner. Health Minister Veena George has stated that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident, who is involved and whether there is any conspiracy and strong action should be taken.
All PSC exams on Thursday have been postponed
Thiruvananthapuram: All PSC exams scheduled to be held on Thursday (September 28) have been postponed due to the declaration of a public holiday for Nabi Day. All these exams will be conducted on December 7. Physical measurement and fitness test for the posts of Assistant Prison Officer and Female Assistant Prison Officer, which were to be conducted on Thursday, have also been postponed. Its updated date will be available in the candidates profile.
Meanwhile, there will be no change for the fitness tests on other dates. The postponed exams on 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 25th of this month will be held on 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th of December. The OMR exam postponed on 23rd in Kozhikode district will be held on 29th October as well.
Tovino Thomas’ 2018 Movie Selected as India’s Official Entry for Oscars 2024
The Film Federation of India (FFI) has announced that Tovino Thomas’ 2018 Malayalam film, 2018: Everyone is a Hero, has been selected as India’s official entry for the 96th Academy Awards in 2024. The film is a survival drama directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and also stars Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, and Kalaiyarasan.
2018: Everyone is a Hero tells the story of a group of people who are trapped in a shopping mall after a series of natural disasters strike the city. The film has been praised for its realistic portrayal of disaster and its heartwarming message of hope and resilience.

Popular South Indian actress Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, celebrated the first birthday of their twin sons, Uyir and Ulagam, on Tuesday, September 27.

Nipah restrictions will continue till October 1
Kozhikode: Nipah control in Kozhikode will continue till October 1. Minister Veena George also informed that there are no new positive cases.
Meanwhile, after a week of online classes, educational institutions in places other than the restricted area were opened the other day.
The suspicion of Nipah disease was raised in the district last 11.
The entire health system of the state was centered in Kozhikode. Minister Veena camped in George district to strengthen health workers. Kozhikode has secured mobile lab service of Pune Institute of Virology to facilitate testing. Medical college and private hospitals have been arranged together.
Under the leadership of Minister PA Muhammad Riaz, the district administration along with the local bodies had formed systematic prevention activities. Restrictions have been announced in areas where the disease has been confirmed.
Actress Waheeda Rehman awarded Dadasaheb Phalke Award

New Delhi: Renowned actress Waheeda Rahman has been honored with the Dadasahib Phalke Award for Lifelong Contribution to the Film Industry. The announcement of the award was made by the Minister of Communications Anurag Thakur. Waheeda is a talent who is widely acclaimed for her acting skills in films like Guide, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1972 and Padma Bhushan in 2011.
Waheeda Rahman has won critical acclaim for her performances in films like Pyaasa, Kagas Ke Phool, Chaudhavi Ka Chand, Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, Guide, Khamoshi and many more. Waheeda Rahman was born on February 3, 1938 in Chengalpet, Tamil Nadu. Debut in 1955 Telugu film Rojulu Marai. She has acted in more than 90 films.
Waheeda Rahman won the Filmfare Award for the first time for Guide released in 1965. Waheeda won the Filmfare Award for the second time with Neelkamal, which was released in 1968. She won the National Film Award for her role in the film ‘Reshma and Shera’. The country honored Waheeda Rehman with Padma Shri (1972) and Padma Bhushan (2011).

Kochi: Director KG George passed away. He died at Kakkanadu Old Age Home. He directed films such as Panchavadipalam, Ukkadal, Kolangal, Mela, Irakal, Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback, Yavanika, Adaminte Variyellu. He entered the cinema through the film Swapnadanam. The last film he directed was Ilavankodu Desam which released in 1998.
He received Kerala State Film Awards for films like Yavanika, Swapnatanam, Adaminte Variyellu and Irakal. In 2016, he was awarded the JC Daniel Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Film Industry. His wife is singer Salma.
The Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha
New Delhi: The Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha. The bill was passed to reserve 33 percent seats for women in the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies. This is the 128th amendment of the Constitution. The bill is titled ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’. 454 MPs voted in favor of the bill introduced by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal while 2 MPs voted against it. Voting on Billin was done by giving a slip. The bill also stipulates that one-third of the seats currently reserved for Scheduled Castes should be reserved for women of that category. The reservation is for 15 years after the amendment comes into force. However, there is a provision in the bill to extend this period. The bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha in the first sitting of the new Parliament building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reached the Lok Sabha to participate in the vote. Rajya Sabha will consider the bill tomorrow. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Women’s Reservation Bill is a sign of respect and the beginning of a new era.
