New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force will now take over the security of the Parliament building. The CISF will take over security duties from the Delhi Police in the wake of the recent Parliament security breach. The Ministry of Home Affairs clarified this in a notification issued yesterday. The Home Ministry said the CISF will take over all related responsibilities, including screening of entrants.

The CISF is a central armed police force providing integrated security protection to sensitive public sector institutions. At present CISF is providing security at more than 350 places including aerospace domains, civil airports, nuclear facilities and many central government ministry buildings. The incident happened minutes before the end of the free time. Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan jumped from the Lok Sabha visitors’ gallery into the members’ chamber and used yellow colored smoke spray, shouting slogans against the central government.

The new and old Parliament complex and ancillary buildings will be brought under the comprehensive security coverage of the CISF, along with the existing elements of Parliament Security Service, Delhi Police and Parliament Duty Group. Security within the complex will remain the responsibility of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police outside the building will continue to guard. The change is also part of an effort to streamline security protocols. The charge comes after a detailed security survey ordered by the Home Ministry following a security breach.

The Wayanad Forest Department in Kerala has brought in two Kumki elephants, Vikram and Bharath, to assist in the search for a tiger spotted in the Wakeri area.

Vikram, known previously as the notorious Vadakkanad tusker, was captured in 2019 after causing significant panic among locals. He has since been tamed and trained as a Kumki elephant, making him ideal for navigating the dense forests and tracing the tiger. Bharath, also a seasoned Kunkia elephant, will soon join the operation.

Officials believe that Vikram’s familiarity with the area, which was once his territory, could prove crucial in locating the elusive tiger. The elephants will work alongside the Rapid Response Team (RRT) to comb through plantations and forest areas in search of the predator.

The tiger that caught the man in Wayanad Wakeri has been identified. It has been found that Prajeesh was caught by a 13-year-old tiger named Nanagha 45 of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary.
