Kottayam: Police arrested 4 foreigners with ganja in Pala. Jagan Malik (25), Bhunath Malik (23), Bikesh Malik (25) and Deepu Malik (28), natives of Odisha, were arrested by the anti-narcotics squad led by the district police chief.
On the basis of the secret information received by the district police chief that ganja has come from outside the state for sale to foreign workers, the district anti-narcotics squad and the Pala police arrested 4 people from Odisha with 3.290 kg of ganja from the room where the employees of a prominent plywood company in Pala live. An investigation is being carried out on those who supply them with ganja. They were produced in court.
Kochi: The state police force will provide security to the Kerala University Senate members nominated by the Governor. The government has announced that police security will be provided to the members in the Senate Chamber and the Kerala University campus. The High Court accepted the government’s proposal.
Seven members nominated by the Governor have approached the High Court seeking police protection, showing that the SFI workers are barring them from participating in the Senate meetings.
Kochi: A native of Kannur, who was wanted by the National Investigation Agency in the Popular Front case, has been arrested. Jafar was caught by the NIA from his house in Kannur. According to the NIA, he was known as a weapons trainer of the Popular Front.
Jafar, the fifty-ninth accused in the case, was absconding for a long time. The main charge against him is that he conspired to bring Islamic rule in India in 2047. The NIA also says that they have been in touch with terrorist organizations for this.
Kochi: The accused in the case of shooting the employees of the bar in Kaloor-Katrikadav have been arrested. The arrest was made on the basis of CCTV footage. Ernakulam North Police arrested Dilshan, Vijay and Shamir. The investigation for the two accused is going on.
The group reached the bar in the early hours of the morning and demanded alcohol and had a verbal argument with the staff and fired shots at the staff. Later, the group escaped from the spot and abandoned the car in Mudavoor.
The three were previously accused in many other cases. They fired at the employees using a revolver.
Kochi: The police have registered the arrest of 4 accused in the case related to the explosion at the Tripunithura fireworks warehouse. The arrest was at 8:30 pm. He was arrested on charges of murder. Devaswom President Sajeesh Kumar, Secretary Rajesh, Treasurer Sathyan and Join Secretary were arrested. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the death toll in today’s blast has reached 2. Vishnu, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, who worked at a firecracker shop, and another person, 55-year-old Divakaran, died. Divakaran, who suffered severe burns, died in the evening while undergoing treatment.
It is reported that the firecrackers brought as part of the festival at Puthiyakavu Temple exploded while being unloaded from the vehicle. Kollam: A charge sheet has been filed in the case of abduction of a girl in Oyur on November 27. A team led by MM Jose, former crime branch DySP, submitted the 1,000-page charge sheet in Kottarakkara Judicial Magistrate Court 2 at around 11 am yesterday in the case of the abduction of a six-year-old girl by car near Oyur Ottumala. In this case registered by the Pooyapally police, the accused have been charged with death penalty.
The key evidence in the case is the statements of the abducted child and the only eyewitness, his brother. The charge sheet states that financial motive was behind the kidnapping. CCTV footage, phone records and other evidences have been included to prove the guilt of the accused. The investigation team collected 160 witnesses and 150 witnesses in the case. It is mentioned in the charge sheet that the accused had planned to kidnap other children for financial gain.
The remand period of KR Padmakumar (51), wife MR Anithakumari (39) and daughter P Anupama (21) of Chatthannur Mampallikunnam Kavitharaj will end on 21st of this month. On December 2, the accused were arrested from Tamil Nadu by the Kollam Dansaf gang.
Kochi: Veena Vijayan’s company Exalogic filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking a stay on the SFIO investigation. The opposite parties in the petition are the Central Government and the SFIO Director. The petition was filed through a lawyer named Manu Prabhakar Kulkarni. As part of the investigation, the SFIO team is searching for information by inspecting various places. Exalogic’s petition seeking a stay comes amid reports that Veena Vijayan will be served a notice to seek information from Exalogic in the investigation. The petition is likely to be heard by the Karnataka High Court today.
In the month-long case against Chief Minister’s daughter Veena, the SFIO team is continuing to probe the information collected from CMRL and KSIDC. Meanwhile, Exalogic approached the Karnataka High Court against the investigation. The SFIO team inspected the corporate office of KSIDC yesterday. After two days of inspection at CMRL, the team arrived at KSIDC. It is also indicated that there will be an action to seek information from Exalogic soon. Veena may be immediately served with a notice directing him to appear in person or to submit documents.
