Thiruvananthapuram: Chance of rain in northern districts of the state. 21 and thundershowers are likely on April 18 to 20 at isolated places along with strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour. A yellow alert has been issued in Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts on Friday .

Rain continues in UAE; 4 more flights from Thiruvananthapuram have been canceled

Thiruvananthapuram: Four more flights from Thiruvananthapuram have been canceled due to continued rain in the UAE. Emirates, Air India Express, Indigo and Air Arabia flights to Sharjah have been canceled. Dubai International Airport has requested passengers to come to the airport only if absolutely necessary. Flights are constantly being canceled and diverted.

Officials have also informed that efforts are being made to make the operation of the airport normal. So far, around 500 flights have been canceled or diverted. It has also been informed that many flights will be very late. 15 flights from India to Dubai have been canceled so far.

13 flights from Dubai to India have also been canceled. Return flights from Dubai have not been canceled.

In the view of National security; ‘X’ banned in Pakistan

Islamabad: Pakistan has banned the X platform (Twitter). The action of the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan has been stopped in the view of national security. Since last February, there have been complaints of difficulties in using X in Pakistan. But till now Pakistan has not given confirmation in this regard.The Ministry of Home Affairs has also stated that the reason for the ban is not to prevent the misuse of X. The Ministry of Home Affairs of Pakistan clarified this in the court on Wednesday.

29 Maoists were killed in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Security forces killed 29 Maoists in an encounter in Kankar district of Chhattisgarh. During the joint operation by BSF and District Reserve Guards, three jawans were injured in firing.

The security sources had initially informed that the bodies of 18 Maoists had not been recovered. The same notification also stated that more people may have been killed. After this, 11 more bodies were found.

Ten weapons including AK 47 guns, 303 rifles and light machine guns were seized. Seven Maoists have also been arrested alive. This is one of the biggest operations conducted by security forces in Bastar region.

The first attempt to rescue the injured jawans by helicopter failed. Then they were given first aid inside the forest.

With the current operation, the number of Maoists killed in the last four months has risen to 72. This is more than the total number of Maoists killed last year.

Drinking on duty: Action against 100 KSRTC employees

Thiruvananthapuram: Disciplinary action against 100 KSRTC employees for being drunk and keeping alcohol while on duty. 74 employees of KSRTC in 60 units have been suspended and 26 have been removed from service. The action is part of the Vigilance Special Surprise Investigation Program held at KSRTC from April 1 to 15, 2024.

In the inspection of 60 units, one station master, two vehicle supervisors, one security sergeant, nine permanent mechanics, one alternate mechanic, 22 permanent conductors, 9 alternate conductors, one swift conductor, 39 permanent drivers, 10 alternate drivers and five swift driver-cum-conductors. He was found drunk on duty.

The current order states that all employees except women who come for duty should be assigned to duty only after checking with a breathalyzer and ensuring that the employees are not under the influence of alcohol. Following this, a special inspection was conducted. It appears that a small section of employees are still ignoring such warnings and following irresponsible practices. It cannot be granted in any way.

Such activities affecting the safety of passengers and public should be completely avoided by the Corporation. The KSRTC management informed that efforts, inspections and measures will continue for this.

Iran-Israel Conflict: Warning for Indians

New Delhi: In the wake of the Iran-Israel conflict, caution has been issued to Indians in Israel.  The Indian Embassy has issued a warning to the citizens.  They have been given a form to register at the embassy.

India has advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Iran or Israel until further notice.  And all those currently residing in Iran or Israel have been requested to contact the Indian embassies there and register themselves.

Malayali star Sajana Sajevan has been selected for the Indian women’s cricket team.

  Sajana was selected for the Indian women’s senior team for the tour of Bangladesh.

 The series consists of 5 T20 matches.

 Another Malayali player, Asha Shobhana, also got a place in the Indian team led by Harmanpreet Kaur.

 The series will run from 28th of this month to 09th of next month.

Petition against Bigg Boss reality show, notice to Mohanlal

High Court notice against Bigg Boss reality show organized by Asianet.  The High Court directed the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to urgently examine the content of the program.  The intervention of the High Court is on a petition filed by High Court lawyer Adarsh ​​S regarding the broadcast of the sixth season of the show.

 Adarsh ​​S filed the petition pointing out that there were illegal actions including physical assault during the program.  The High Court has issued notices to the organizers of the show, Endamol Shine, Star India, the host of the show, Mohanlal, and the contestant of the show, Rocky.  The court will consider the petition again on 25th of this month.

Monthly payoff of controversy: Court verdict on 19

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance Court will pass judgment on the 19th on the petition filed by Mathew Kuzhalnathan MLA seeking an investigation against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter Veena in the Monthly payoff case. Mathew Kuzhalnadan’s demand was to order a vigilance investigation in the petition filed in the vigilance court.

Mathew had changed his position when the petition was considered the other day. With this, the court had suggested that the petitioner should first decide whether he wants court or vigilance. Then the court moved the case to 12 due to the demand that it was enough.

A complaint was lodged with Vigilance but no case was filed. Therefore, the petition demanded that the court should order a vigilance investigation. Mathew Kuzhalnadan filed the petition on February 29. The government had opposed the petition arguing that the allegations did not fall under the purview of the Vigilance Act.

Velamunda Maoist case: Rupesh gets 10 years in jail

Kochi: Rupesh, the first accused in the Wayanad Vellamunda Maoist case, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The other accused in the case, Kanyakumari and Ibrahim alias Babu, have been sentenced to six years in prison, while Anoop Mathew has been sentenced to eight years. The NIA court in Kochi gave the sentence.

Sections including UAPA were charged against the four persons. Rupesh and Kanyakumari were charged with conspiracy and under the Arms Act. The case is that civil police officer Pramod barged into the house of Wayanad Vellamunda and threatened his mother with a gun. First the local police investigated and then the case was handed over to the NIA.

Rupesh had told the court that it was unfortunate that he had been punished. He has not been charged with harming anyone. The pamphlets covered the protection of the Western Ghats and the rights of the marginalized. Rupesh had also stated in the court that usually the case is alleged for things that do not even exist.
