BEVCO Outlets, Bars Closed in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, September 30: Kerala will be observing a two-day dry spell starting tomorrow, October 1. All BEVCO outlets and bars across the state will remain closed during this period.

The closure is primarily due to the observance of Dry Day on October 1, a monthly tradition, and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. This will result in a consecutive two-day shutdown of liquor sales in the state.

Additionally, BEVCO outlets will close early today, September 30, to facilitate stock replenishment. However, bars will remain open until 11 PM tonight.

The liquor outlets will resume operations on Thursday, October 3 /2024.

Supreme Court Grants Interim Bail to Actor Siddique

New Delhi, September 30, 2024: The Supreme Court of India has granted interim bail to Malayalam actor Siddique, who is facing rape allegations. The court has ordered that Siddique should not be arrested for a period of two weeks.

The actor had approached the Supreme Court after the Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. Siddique is accused of sexually assaulting a female actor in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Supreme Court’s decision comes as a major relief for Siddique, who has been absconding since the case was registered. However, the court has imposed strict conditions on his bail, including a requirement that he surrender his passport and cooperate with the investigation.

Don’t overtake super class buses; KSRTC issues order

Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC has issued an order not to overtake super class buses including Minnal service. In order to reach specific destinations safely and on time, the public chooses high-class buses for traveling by paying higher ticket prices. But on some occasions, there are complaints that the buses belonging to the lower category do not give side to the buses belonging to the higher category including Minimal and compete and overtake.

The Corporation suggests that higher tier buses with shorter running time should be given their own consideration by paying higher ticket prices and lower tier buses should not overtake upper tier buses under any circumstances to avoid unnecessary competition and inconvenience to passengers.

Whatever type of higher tier services are required, lower tier services should be accommodated and such services should be provided with safe passage. It has been suggested that all driver and conductor employees should pay special attention to this matter and ensure that they drive carefully and safely to avoid any complaints.

Thiruvananthapuram: After a while, it is raining again in the state. The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there will be rain from Saturday as a result of the cyclone. Yellow alert has been announced in various districts till Monday. Heavy rain with thunder and lightning is predicted. Also, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour are also likely, the notice said.

Mpox confirmed again in state; A native of Ernakulam is undergoing treatment

Thiruvananthapuram: Mpox has been confirmed again in the state. A young man from Ernakulam was diagnosed with the disease. He is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital. The disease was confirmed by a young man who came from abroad.

Earlier, a native of Malappuram who came from UAE was confirmed to have mpox. The young man undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College Hospital was infected with the clade one B variant. He was first put under observation after he noticed a fever and lumps on the skin similar to chicken pox. He was confirmed to have mpox during the subsequent examination.

The weather department has warned that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next seven days. There is a rain warning in the state due to cyclonic circulation. There is no special alert in any districts today.

Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph (maximum 50 kmph).
