 The latest smartphone model from Realme P1 Speed ​​5G has been launched in India.  This P series smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimension 7300 Energy 5G chipset.  P1 5G,

 The handset shares many similarities with the P1 Pro 5G and P2 5G.

 This model has two storage variants namely 8GB RAM +128GB storage and 12GB RAM +256GB storage.   The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 17.99 and the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant is priced at Rs 20,999.  The model has two paint options, Brushed Blue and Textured Titanium.  The phone will go on sale from 12 midnight on October 20.  From 21, the phone can be purchased through commercial platforms including Realme.com, Flipkart, Amazon and Myntra.

 The design of the phone is with a 6.67 inch display.  The phone runs on Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14.

 Coming to optics, the phone sports a 50 MP AI camera unit.  The phone is also equipped with a 16 MP camera for selfies and video calls.  The phone packs a 5000 mAh battery.  It supports 45W fast charging.

SBI lower loan interest rates

SBI reduces interest on loans. SBI has reduced interest rates based on MCLR.  SBI has made a reduction of 25 basis points.  The new interest rates will come into effect from October 15.  According to the bank’s website, the interest rate based on MCLR will be reduced from 8.45 percent to 8.20 percent.  MCLR is the minimum interest rate charged on a loan.

 According to this, 8.2 percent interest rate will be imposed for one day.  Interest rates on MCLR-based home, auto and retail loans will all come down.  Earlier, RBI did not change the loan interest rates.  RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has kept the repo rate at 6.5 percent.

Stockholm: Daron Eysmoglu, Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson are awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics.  The study of why some countries succeed economically and others fail is what merited the Nobel.  All three mentioned the importance of social institutions in the prosperity of a country.

 Social institutions in countries with weak laws exploit the people and thereby hinder the growth of the country or eliminate positive changes.  Announcing the award, the panel clarified that the reasons for it were clear through the study of the three.

 Eysmoglu and Johnson are conducting research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Robinson at the University of Chicago.

 One of the biggest challenges today is the huge disparity in income between countries.  Research has revealed the deep reasons behind this.

Film actor Baiju Santhosh arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: He was arrested for causing an accident by driving at excessive speed while intoxicated.

 The incident happened last night at Vellyambalam, Thiruvananthapuram. 

 Baiju’s car hit a scooter and an electric post after reaching excessive speed. Baiju was released on bail by the station after the car museum police took him into custody. The passenger was not seriously injured in the incident. But the vehicle has been damaged.

Kochi: Actor Bala was arrested on a complaint filed by his ex-wife.

 The complaint is that it was defamed through social media.

 He was arrested under the Juvenile Justice Department for insulting womanhood. 

 Bala’s manager was also arrested in the case.

 He was taken into custody from his home in the morning.

Israeli airstrikes on Gaza refugee camp school; 28 death

Gaza; At least 28 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school housing refugees in the central Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Red Crescent said. The attack was on the Rufaida Al Aslamiya school in the town of Deir al-Balah. More than 50 people were injured in the attack.

A video from the scene shows the area covered in smoke, people running to help the injured and several children being treated at the local Al-Aqsa Hospital. The Israeli military claimed that the attack targeted Hamas fighters working in the school’s command and control center.

The 1.9 million Palestinians who fled their homes following the year-long Israeli massacre in Gaza are being sheltered in various schools. Alleging that these shelters are becoming command centers for Hamas, the Israeli army is targeting them.

More than 42,060 people have been killed in Gaza so far in the offensive that began on October 7, 2023, according to the territory’s Gaza Ministry of Health.

Mahanavami; PSC exams postponed, holiday for ration shops also

The PSC exams scheduled to be held tomorrow in the state have been postponed due to Mahanavami. Tomorrow (October 11) has been declared a public holiday in the state. Apart from educational institutions, government offices have also been declared a public holiday. The PSC office informed that the PSC exams have also been changed in this context.

The tests are interviews, fitness tests, service verification and document verification. The revised date will be announced later. The Chief Minister also directed to declare a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

 Ration shops in the state will also be closed tomorrow. Tomorrow’s declaration of holiday and public holiday will be applicable to ration shops on the basis of cooperation of ration shop licensees with the mustering process of priority cards for the last one month.

Food and Public Distribution Minister GR Anil informed about this. The minister also informed that the next working day of the ration shops will be on Monday.

Nobel Prize in Literature goes to South Korean writer Han Kang

This year’s Nobel Prize for Literature goes to South Korean writer Han Kang. The award is given by the Swedish Academy. The prize money is 11 million Swedish crowns (11 lakh dollars).

Han was born in 1970 in Gwangju, South Korea. She was from a literary family. Her father was a prominent novelist.

Han’s literary debut was writing poetry. She has written novels and short stories. She won the International Booker Prize in 2016 for The Vegetarian. I Don’t Bid Farewell is a recently published novel.

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has announced his retirement

Barcelona: Tennis legend Rafael Nadal announced his retirement. The Davis Cup in November will be the his last tournament. Nadal announced his retirement from professional tennis through a video message. The player who has won 22 Grand Slam titles has also won 14 titles in the French Open.

Nadal has a total of 92 ATP singles titles, including 36 Masters titles and an Olympic gold medal. Nadal also holds the unique record of being one of only three men to complete a career Golden Slam in singles.

It was obviously a difficult decision and one that took me a while to make. I am retiring from professional tennis. “The reality is that it’s been a tough few years, especially the last two years,” Nadal said in the video.
