Military withdrawal begins in eastern Ladakh; Will be completed on 29th

0

New Delhi: Military withdrawal has started in Depsang plain and Demchok in eastern Ladakh. This will be completed by Tuesday. Along with the complete withdrawal of Indian and Chinese troops, the temporary structures here will also be demolished. The army leadership also informed that the status of April 2020 will be restored. Although the withdrawal of troops will take place, the regular meeting of military commanders will continue. Before going out on patrol, both the forces will exchange information about this. The aim is to avoid misunderstandings. Last day, India and China decided to withdraw their troops from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping announced during their meeting in Kazan, Russia that peace will be restored along the border.

The military withdrawal in eastern Ladakh comes after four years of military and diplomatic tensions between India and China have eased.

In May 2020, there was a clash between the two forces in the Pangong Lake area. This was followed by an encounter in the Galvan Valley the following month in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred. It is reported that China has lost more than 40 soldiers in the encounter.

Later both sides made military concentration in LAC. In August last year, it was reported that India had deployed more than 70,000 troops and 90 tanks. Apart from this, hundreds of artillery pieces were also lined up. Sukhoi and Jaguar aircraft were also ready. China had a similar military concentration.
