Thodupuzha: Two people including Bigg Boss star Parikutty (Fariduddin-31) arrested for drug and cannabis use. 10.5 grams of chemical liquor and 9 grams of ganja were seized from them. Vadakara Kavilumpara Jismon (34) is the other person arrested. Moolamattam excise team caught them.

The two were caught during a vehicle inspection at Pullikanam on Saturday. The car they were traveling in was also seized. Parikutty has acted in films like Oru Adar Love and Happy Wedding.

The Kerala Police clarified about the ‘Chiri’ project which was started by the police to ease the mental stress in children. The ‘Chiri’ project has been shared in a post shared on social media. Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan unveiled the logo of the AI assistant “Swami Chatbot” developed by the district administration system for pilgrims to the Sabarimala temple. Swami chat is accessible through a smart phone interface. Bot ensures comprehensive service in 6 languages including English, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.

Through this, devotees will be able to access information about temple matters such as processions, pooja times, airports and railway stations. Through the Swamy Chatbot, it is intended to efficiently implement the services of important departments like police and forest department.

The district administration stated that through the functioning of this modern digital system, the Sabarimala Yatra will be made more convenient and safe and the services will be delivered to the devotees as soon as possible. The direction was made in collaboration with Muthoot Group.

Kochi: High Court with detailed guidelines for elephant procession in the state. A bench consisting of Justices AK Jayasankaran Nambiar and A Gopinath has issued strict instructions, including the requirement to obtain the permission of the district level committee for religious programs and festivals. There are suggestions in the guidelines such as not making the elephant stand up for more than three hours continuously and to get permission for the procession a month in advance.  
Other Important Tips:

– There should be a distance of five meters between the elephant and the fire extinguishers

– A distance of 8 meters should be ensured between the people and the elephant

– There should be a barricade at the place where the elephants stand.

– The district level committee should not give permission to those who do not follow the guidelines

– Do not drive elephants more than 30 km per day

– Do not make parade with elephants on public roads between 9 am and 5 pm.

– Don’t ride an elephant between 10 pm and 4 am.

– Organizers should ensure proper resting place for elephant at night

– Do not travel elephant more than 125 km per day

– Do not drive an elephant for more than six hours a day

– The speed of the vehicle carrying the elephant should be less than 25 kmph

– Vehicle must be speed locked

Thiruvananthapuram: State Election Commissioner A Shahjahan said that the by-elections in the 31 local wards of the state will be held on December 10. By-elections are held in 4 block panchayat wards, 3 municipality wards and 23 gram panchayat wards in 11 districts. By-elections are held in districts other than Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kasaragod.

Notification will be issued on Friday. Nomination papers can be submitted till 22nd. Scrutiny on 23rd. Paper can be withdrawn till 25th. Counting of votes will be done on December 11 at 10 am. 192 polling booths will be set up for polling.

A model code of conduct has come into effect in polling areas. The code of conduct applies to the respective wards in municipalities and to the entire area in gram panchayats. The Code of Conduct applies to Gram Panchayat area which includes wards with by-elections in Block and District Panchayats. The final voter list was published on the last 19. 

 Thiruvananthapuram: The Public Education Department has appointed a three-member committee to investigate and submit a report on the attempt to disrupt the concluding session of the State School Sports meet in Kochi.  In the meeting presided over by Public Education Minister V Sivankutty, it was also decided to seek an explanation from Thirunavaya Nava Mukunda and Kothamangalam Mar Basil schools.

 Additional Secretary of Public Education Department M I Meenambika, Joint Secretary BT Biju Kumar, SCERT Director Dr. K Jayaprakash and others are members of the committee. The committee should submit its report within two weeks.

 In the context of sports schools and general schools competing together in the fair, a committee consisting of experts in the field of sports will be appointed to conduct a study and prepare a proposal regarding the selection of the best school.  Based on the report of the committee, the meeting also decided to revise the manual if necessary.

 Kochi: The High Court quashed the order to file a case against the police officers on the complaint that a housewife who came to Ponnani to complain was tortured.  The Ponnani Magistrate’s Court had ordered to file a case against the policemen as per the instructions of the High Court Single Bench.  The order was to file a case against the accused including SP Sujith Das, DySP Benny and CI Vinod.  The division bench, which considered the petition filed by CI Vinod against this, quashed the order of the single bench.

 A housewife from Ponnani complained that SP, DY SP and CI had raped her.  Against this, the accused Circle Inspector Vinod approached the Division Bench of the High Court.

 When there was no further action on the complaint lodged with the police, the housewife approached the High Court.  Yesterday, the High Court Single Bench directed the Ponnani Magistrate Court to take a decision within ten days.  Based on this, the magistrate registered an FIR against the policemen and ordered an investigation.  This order of the High Court Single Bench was set aside by the Division Bench.  Earlier, the High Court had temporarily stayed the registration of FIR against the police officers.

 Ponnani SHO Vinod, DySP Benny and Malappuram SP Sujith Das allegedly raped a housewife from Ponnani who approached her with a complaint related to some problems at home in 2022.  The housewife also accused Sujith Das of raping her when she approached higher officials with a complaint of molestation by the SHO.  SP Sujith is under suspension in another case.  As soon as the incident came to the news, the officials came to the scene denying the allegations.
