Welfare pension fraud; Notice to 6 employees of Public Administration Department

Notice to six employees of the Public Administration Department in welfare pension fraud. The notice is to repay the welfare pension amount received with interest. Further action will be taken after the money is recovered. Earlier, it was recommended to dismiss six people who embezzled welfare pensions in the Public Administration Department. Now the notice has been sent to the part time sweepers. Unauthorized money must be paid back at the rate of 18% interest. Among them are those who have to pay back Rs 22,600 to Rs 86,000. The government has decided that further action is sufficient after recovering the money.

At the same time, the Chief Minister is considering the recommendation to dismiss the embezzled employees. It was found that the six had deliberately stolen the welfare pension. Even after getting a job, they were receiving welfare pension, but kept the welfare pension hidden. If the government approves the termination recommendation, the same procedure will have to be followed in other departments.

Thiruvananthapuram:  Six government employees suspended in connection with social security pension fraud.
 The action is against the part-time employees of the Soil Conservation Department. The government directed the employees to pay back the illegally taken amount with 18% interest.It was found earlier in the inspection that 1458 government employees including gazetted officers of the state are receiving social security pension.
 The serious fraud was discovered during the inspection conducted by the Information Kerala Mission as per the instructions of the Finance Department.

K Jayakumar wins Central Sahitya Akademi Award

Thiruvananthapuram: K Jayakumar has won the Central Sahitya Akademi Award. The award is for his poetry collection Pinggalakesini.

K Jayakumar is a Malayali IAS officer known as a poet, lyricist, translator, painter and scriptwriter. He was the Chief Secretary of the State of Kerala and his father was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Malayalam.

He has published five poetry collections, including Ardhavrittangal and Rathriyya Vaishnav, in Malayalam and two in English. His literary contributions include translations of many famous works, including Tagore’s Gitanjali and Khalil Gibran’s Prophet.

He has written and directed a children’s film Varnachirakul. He has written lyrics for more than 80 Malayalam films.

Sabarimala; Special pass for those who come for darshan via forest path

It has been decided to issue a special pass for darshan to Ayyappa devotees who come to Sabarimala on foot via forest path. Passes are being issued to those who come via the 30-km forest path from Erumeli to Pamba. The pass system was introduced to allow devotees who arrive at Marakkoottam by getting a seal from the Puthussery base with the entry pass obtained from Mukkuzhi and then getting an exit seal from the Valianavattom base to have darshan without standing in queues. The pass is being issued by the Forest Department.

The special pass will be available to devotees from the 18th. Sabarimala Additional District Magistrate Dr. Arun S. Nair officially inaugurated the distribution of IAS passes at a function held in Mukkuzhi on the morning of the 18th. Pampa Range Forest Officer Mukesh MK, Mukkuzhi Deputy Range Forest Officer Jayaprakash K, Sap EDC Chairman Joshi, other officials and temple office bearers attended the ceremony.

12 Indians found dead in Georgian resort

Tbilisi: 12 Indians were found dead in a Georgian resort. The incident took place at a restaurant in the famous mountain resort of Gudauri in Georgia. The Indian Embassy said that all the deceased were employees of the same restaurant. The Georgian Interior Ministry said that they died of carbon monoxide inhalation.

They were found dead in a bedroom on the second floor. Authorities said that no other injuries or attempts at robbery were found on the body. The initial conclusion is that the cause of death may have been inhalation of toxic fumes from a generator installed inside the building. A generator was also found near the room. A criminal case has been registered in the incident.

33 ministers were sworn in in the first phase of the Mahayuti government’s cabinet expansion in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will retain the Home Ministry. The BJP has taken the lion’s share of the state’s ministerial list. The first phase of cabinet expansion took place in Nagpur today after the Mahayuti’s big victory in Maharashtra and the power struggle between the alliance parties. The Mahayuti alliance witnessed a decisive victory in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections. It secured a huge victory by winning 230 out of 288 seats in the state.

While the BJP won 132 seats, the Shiv Sena got 57 seats and the NCP got 41 seats. Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister on December 5. Former Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and NCP’s Ajit Pawar became the Deputy Chief Ministers.

With the swearing-in, it is expected that the power-sharing arrangements between the grand alliance will soon be finalised. It has been decided that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will retain the Home Ministry, which was a major point of contention between the BJP and its ally Shiv Sena. A total of 39 MLAs, including state Bharatiya Janata Party president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, have been inducted into the Maharashtra government.

The oath-taking ceremony was held in Nagpur, a day before the week-long winter session of the state assembly begins on December 16. 33 people were sworn in as cabinet ministers and 6 as ministers of state. Of the 33 cabinet ministers, 16 are from the BJP, 9 from the Shiv Sena and 8 from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). With this, the BJP has the lion’s share of the state’s ministerial list.

Actor Allu Arjun arrested

Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede during the screening of Pushpa 2. The Hyderabad police arrested the actor from his residence in Jubilee Hills. The police had registered a case against Allu Arjun in the case. Allu Arjun had approached the Telangana High Court yesterday seeking cancellation of the case registered against him. The arrest came after this.

The incident took place on Wednesday night, December 4, at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. Revathi (39), a native of Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad, died. Revathi, who had come to watch the premiere show with her husband Bhaskar and sons Tej and Saanvi, fell unconscious on the ground in the stampede. People fell outside Revathi and her condition deteriorated. She was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. Revathi’s husband and sons were injured. They are undergoing treatment.

A large crowd of fans had gathered in front of the theater as part of the movie’s release at 11 pm. Meanwhile, the excitement of the fans was overwhelming when the hero of the movie, Allu Arjun, his family and director Sukumar unexpectedly arrived at the theater. The police could not control the people who tried to enter the theater. With this, the police lathi-charged. The clash between the police and the people resulted in the accident.

Three people, including the theater owner, had been arrested earlier in the incident. The Hyderabad police arrested the owner of the Sandhya theater where the accident occurred, Sandeep, senior manager Nagaraju, and manager Vijay Chandra.
