UR Pradeep and Rahul Mamkootathil took oath as MLAs

Chelakkara and Palakkad MLAs took oath in the presence of the Chief Minister, the ruling and opposition leaders, and the Speaker. UR Pradeep took oath solemnly and Rahul Mamkootathil took oath in the name of God. Both were received by the Chief Minister and other leaders after being presented with bouquets.

UR Pradeep and Rahul Mamkootathil were elected as MLAs in to fill the vacancies left by K Radhakrishnan in Chelakkara and Shafi Parambil in Palakkad. First, UR Pradeep took oath as Chelakkara MLA in a solemn manner. Second, Rahul, who won from Palakkad, took oath in the name of God.

The Chief Minister, Speaker and Leader of the Opposition presented bouquets to both of them. The ceremony held at the Shankaranarayana Thampi Hall in the Legislative Assembly was attended by party leaders, invited guests, UDF and LDF workers and others.

Kalarcode Accident: Driver’s License Suspended, KSRTC Driver Cleared Of Charges

Alappuzha: The tragic road accident that occurred in Kalarcode, Alappuzha district, has led to significant investigations and legal actions.

Key findings:

  • Driver’s License Suspension: The driving license of the student who was driving the car involved in the accident will be suspended.
  • KSRTC Driver Exonerated: Police investigations, including CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, have exonerated the KSRTC bus driver from any wrongdoing.
  • Legal Proceedings: The student driver was initially included in the preliminary report, a standard procedure in fatal accidents. However, police authorities have clarified that he will be excluded from the final report to be submitted to the court.
  • Vehicle Owner Investigation: The owner of the vehicle, Shamil Khan, will be questioned by the Enforcement RTO regarding the rental of the car without proper permits and licenses.

The accident, which resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, has raised serious concerns about road safety and the need for stricter regulations on vehicle rentals.

Bus and car collide in Alappuzha; 5 students died and 2 were seriously injured

5 students killed in KSRTC bus and car collision in Alappuzha. 2 people seriously injured. The incident happened in Alappuzha Kalarkode. The car hit the KSRTC Superfast. The youths were brought to the hospital after the accident car was torn apart. The first year students of Alappuzha Medical College were involved in the accident.

One of the students died on the spot. A native of Lakshadweep is among the dead. It is also doubtful whether there were more students in the car. It is reported that both the vehicles were not speeding. The current conclusion is that the cause of the accident may have been blurred vision due to the weather. The car collided with a KSRTC bus which was going from Guruvayur to Kayamkulam.

Meanwhile, there were 11 people inside the car. Postmortem proceedings will begin tomorrow morning. After post-mortem, the bodies will be handed over to the relatives.

Hyderabad: Seven Maoists were killed in an encounter with police in Telangana. The encounter took place in a dense forest in Chalpaka, Mulugu SP Shabarish said. Police said a large cache of arms, including two AK-47 rifles and various explosives, was seized.

A search operation is underway in the area, the officials added. On November 22, ten Maoists were killed in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. Security forces were on high alert following fears that the Maoists might try to establish a presence in Telangana.

Thrissur: All temporary employees of Kerala Kalamandalam have been dismissed. About 120 people ranging from teachers to security personnel have lost their jobs due to the financial crisis. Thiruvananthapuram: The health department has closed and sealed 2 scanning centers in Alappuzha in the case of non-detection of defects in the unborn child. The health department officials locked and sealed everything including the scanning machines.

According to law, records of scanning are to be kept for 2 years. But on investigation it was found that no records were kept by any institution. The license of both the establishments was cancelled.

According to the instructions of the Minister of Health Veena George, it was found that the records and other things were not kept during the inspections conducted by the expert team of the Health Department. Further investigation is going on. There will be further action after the report is submitted.

Alappuzha South Police had registered a case against Dr. Shirley and Dr. Pushpa, gynecologists of Alappuzha Kadapuram Children’s and Women’s Hospital and two doctors from a private lab, in the case of a newborn baby with severe disability. The complaint is that the doctors did not recognize the defect despite several scans during the pregnancy. The child’s family had lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister and the Health Minister. But the initial conclusion of the police is that the doctors who treated her did not make a mistake and there was a mistake in the lab test. A medical board comprising experts from the health department has been constituted to investigate the malpractice.

ISL; Kochi Metro till 11 pm

Kochi: Due to the FC Goa-Kerala Blasters ISL match on Thursday, Kochi Metro will operate till 11 pm. There will be metro service from JLN Stadium to Aluva and Tripunithura at 11 pm.

Additional services and other special arrangements have been put in place at JLN Stadium station for passengers during ISL matches.

Ola with electric scooter for just Rs 39,999; Booking has started

Ola has shocked the Indian automobile market by coming up with a budget friendly electric vehicle. Ola is in the news for launching budget scooters for just Rs 39,999. It has launched its first B2B-oriented electric scooter in India. The Ola Gig, Ola Gig Plus, Ola S1Z and Ola S1Z Plus models have been launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 39,999, Rs 49,999, Rs 59,999 and Rs 64,999 respectively.

The booking of the scooter, which will reach customers from April 2025, has already started. Those interested can book from today by paying Rs 499. Delivery is likely to start from April next year. The models are aimed at students, young professionals and older riders. Ola S1Z Plus is suitable for commercial use like e-commerce/ food delivery and others.

Ola Gig Plus is designed to enable delivery workers to travel longer distances with heavy goods. The Gig Plus gets a top speed of 45 kmph and a dual battery support of 157 km. The S1Z will have a top speed of 70 kmph and a range of 146 km with dual battery support.

The new electric scooter can accelerate from 0-20 kmph in 1.8 seconds and 0-40 kmph in 4.8 seconds. The scooter can be started using the app. The company claims that it has fast charging support. Details like seat height, weight, load carrying capacity and wheel size are yet to be revealed.
