Kochi: The Muvattupuzha First Class Magistrate Court has rejected the bail plea of Ananthu Krishnan, the main accused in the half-price scooter scam case. The court found him prima facie guilty. The court rejected the application, observing that there are cases against Ananthu in other stations and that there is a possibility of destroying evidence if he is granted bail.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is moving to collect the statements of all those who have filed complaints against Ananthu Krishnan. Moreover, the Crime Branch is also seeking to question those who received information from Ananthu. 385 FIRs were registered in the case on Tuesday alone.  

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of rising daytime temperatures in the state, the Labor Commissioner has reorganized working hours. The reorganization is to allow workers to rest from 12 noon to 3 pm. Instead, it is proposed to set 8 hours of work between 7 am and 7 pm.

The order is in view of the possibility of workers getting sunstroke due to extreme heat. The restrictions will be in place from February 11 to May 10. Instructions have also been given to strictly implement time management in the construction sector and among road construction workers.

The court has acquitted actor Shine Tom Chacko in the drug case. The court has acquitted all 8 accused in the case. The case was that a cocaine party was held at a flat in Kadavanthra, Kochi. The incident related to the case was in 2015.

The court assessed that the prosecution could not scientifically prove that drugs were used. The case was that Shine Tom Chacko was caught with cocaine in a raid conducted by the police at a flat in Kadavanthra, Kochi. The incident related to the case was on January 30, 2015. Four models were also arrested. The incident in which 7 grams of cocaine was seized from the accused was the first cocaine case in the state.

The court acquitted all the accused in this case. The action is in the hands of the Principal Sessions Court. The accused argued that it was not cocaine that was seized. The court also assessed that the prosecution was unable to scientifically prove the drugs. Five people, including Shine Tom Chacko, were arrested in a raid conducted by the police at the flat around midnight. There were eight accused in the case. The court acquitted all the accused.

Pathanamthitta: A student of the Army Recruitment Training Center was found hanging. 19-year-old Gayatri was found dead inside a room in a rented house. Her mother alleged that Gayatri’s death was due to mental torture by a teacher at the Army Recruitment Training Center.

When the mother returned from work, she found her daughter hanging inside the room. She is a student of the Agniveer course at the Army Recruitment Training Center in Adoor.

The mother has filed a complaint against a retired soldier, a teacher at the institution. The mother said that the teacher had treated Gayatri with hostility and mentally tortured her.

The police said that they will conduct a detailed investigation after examining Gayatri’s mobile phone. The body has been shifted to the hospital. After conducting tests including a postmortem, she will be handed over to her relatives.

Kochi: An actress has filed a confidential statement against director Sanalkumar Sasidharan. The confidential statement is part of a complaint filed by the actress alleging that he had insulted femininity through social media. The actress went to the Aluva Judicial First Class Magistrate Court and gave her statement.

Sanal was arrested by the police in 2022 on a complaint filed by the actress, but was later released on bail. The actress has filed the complaint alleging that Sanal has been personally abusing her through social media for the past few days.

Reports say that Sanal is currently in the US. A lookout notice and circular have been issued against him.

Malappuram: Prabhin, who is on remand in the death of wife Vishnuja in Elankoor, has been suspended from work. Prabhin was a staff nurse at the Manjeri Govt. Medical College Hospital. Charges such as abetment to suicide and dowry harassment were filed against Prabhin in Vishnuja’s death.

Prabhin, who was remanded by the court in the case, is currently in jail. The complaint is that her husband Prabhin constantly mentally tortured Vishnuja in the name of dowry, beauty and unemployment.
