Washington: A US flight brought back 12 Indians who had arrived in Panama as part of the deportation process. They were brought back to Delhi on an Istanbul-Turkish Airlines flight from Panama on Sunday evening.

Four of them are from Punjab and three each from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. They returned on a regular flight. The Punjab natives were later sent to Amritsar on another flight. With this, 4 flights carrying illegal Indian immigrants to the US have arrived in the country. They were brought back with the help of a United Nations agency.

Since Trump came to power, America has deported 299 illegal immigrants, including Indians, to Panama. The first  batch of Indians included in this has now been brought to Delhi. Meanwhile, India has expressed its opposition to sending Indians deported from America to the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay. The central government has said that more military flights will be allowed and that Indians should be brought directly to India as much as possible.

A young woman died of amoebic encephalitis in Kozhikode. A 39-year-old woman from Koyilandy died of the disease. The young woman died this morning after being treated in the ICU of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for the past one month. The young woman was given 5 drugs brought from abroad. Health workers are investigating the causes of the infection, including how it occurred.

Studies have shown that amoebic encephalitis can occur in two forms. They are primary amoebic meningoencephalitis, which causes the disease to worsen suddenly, and granulomas amoebic encephalitis, which causes the disease to worsen slowly. The mortality rate is 95 percent to 100 percent.

Amoebic encephalitis is not spread from one person to another. This amoeba can be found in all artificially stagnant water sources, including swimming pools. Therefore, it is essential that all stagnant water sources used by the public be properly chlorinated and cleaned according to protocol.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, and prominent NDA leaders attended the oath-taking ceremony.

The new Chief Minister was decided in a parliamentary board meeting chaired by the Prime Minister yesterday. In a meeting of the legislature party held at the party’s state headquarters in the presence of central observers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankhar, Parvesh Verma proposed Rekha Gupta’s name for the post of Chief Minister. The proposal was passed unanimously. Ravi Shankar Prasad formally announced that Rekha Gupta had been elected as the leader. Rekha Gupta thanked everyone. Although several names were considered for the post of Chief Minister, three factors – women, OBCs and representatives of the middle class – supported Rekha Gupta.

Rekha is the fourth woman to become the Chief Minister of Delhi. Rekha Gupta won from Shalimar Bagh by a margin of 29,000 votes, defeating Aam Aadmi Party’s Bandana Kumari and Congress’s Praveen Kumar Jain.
