Washington: Joe Biden has been sworn in as the 46th President of the United States. Kamala Harris has become the first woman Vice President in the country. Biden defeated his predecessor, Donald Trump, by a landslide to win the most popular votes in history.

The 78-year-old Biden has more than half a century of democratic political tradition and eight years of experience as vice president with Barack Obama. Biden is also the oldest president to visit the White House. Kamala Harris is the first non-American to run for vice president under one of the major parties in the US.

Kamala Harris is the first African American and the first Indian American to become Vice President. Biden took office at 10 pm Indian time last night.
