Thiruvananthapuram, July 21, 2025 – The funeral of V.S. Achuthanandan, former Chief Minister of Kerala, will be held with full state honors on Wednesday afternoon at the Valiya Chudukadu crematorium in Alappuzha, according to CPI(M) State Secretary M.V. Govindan.
On Monday evening, around 5 p.m., the body will be moved from S.U.T. Hospital to the AKG Study and Research Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, where it will be kept for public viewing. Later that night, it will be shifted to the residence of Achuthanandan’s son in the capital.
On Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., the body will be brought to Darbar Hall for public homage, allowing people from all walks of life to pay their last respects. Following this, a condolence procession will commence in the afternoon, traveling via the national highway to Alappuzha, where it will reach the late leader’s home by night.
On Wednesday morning, the body will be available for public viewing at Achuthanandan’s residence in Velikkakathu, Alappuzha. It will then be taken to the Town Hall for further public homage. The final rites will be performed with full state honors at the Valiya Chudukadu crematorium in the afternoon.
