Ticket fares on passenger trains and MEMU trains have been reduced

Thiruvananthapuram: The Ministry of Railways has reduced the ticket price of passenger trains.  The passenger and MEMU train fares, which were increased during the Covid period, have now been restored.  The minimum charge has been reduced from Rs 30 to Rs 10.  The announcement came as a relief to regular passengers.

Northern Railway has changed the fare two days ago.  The Railways had clarified that as soon as the order is received, it will be implemented everywhere.  Short-distance fares will also come down proportionately after reaching the old rates.  Tickets are available through UTS apps.

The Ministry of Railways had stopped passenger trains during the covid period to avoid crowds.  Passenger trains came back after covid but the same fare was charged as express trains.  People’s representatives and various organizations have been demanding for a long time to go back to the old rates.
