Security Measures Strengthened; Konni Elephant Park to Reopen from May 1

Konni: Following the tragic death of a four-year-old boy, the Konni Elephant Park in Pathanamthitta, which had been temporarily closed, will reopen to visitors from May 1. The decision comes after enhancing the park’s security measures.

The decision to resume operations was made during a meeting chaired by Konni MLA K.U. Janeesh Kumar. It was also decided to provide compensation to the family of Abhiram, the four-year-old boy who lost his life.

The incident occurred on April 18 when a concrete pillar collapsed at the Konni Elephant Park, leading to the death of Abhiram. He had come to the park with his relatives to celebrate the holidays when the tragedy struck.

The four-foot-long pillar fell on Abhiram’s head and body while they were taking photographs. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved. Following the incident, the park was temporarily closed.
