Thiruvananthapuram: As the rising number of Covid patients, a night curfew will be imposed in Kerala from today. Restrictions will be imposed from 9 pm to 5 am. DGP Loknath Behra said there did not impede buying essential items like medicine and milk.
Concessions will be given during the Ramzan fasting. Long journeys beyond the night curfew should be avoided. The DGP said that even if there is only one person in the car, the mask must be worn. There will be no disruption to public-freight transport and essential services. Those who have to travel for urgent needs should be made aware of this. There will be strict scrutiny and action in the state today and tomorrow to see if Covid is violating the protocol.
Institutions will have to close for two days with a penalty for Covid protocol violations. The night curfew is from 9 pm to 5 am to avoid night gatherings and celebrations. Concessions are only available at petrol pumps, hospitals, medical shops, night shift workers, journalists, health workers, and milk distributors.
Autorickshaws or taxis are allowed only for essential services after 9 p.m. People are not allowed to gather in places of worship. Presence in places of worship should be limited to staff and attendees. It is also suggested that public functions be televised online.
Grocery stores and hotels are open until 9 p.m. Parcels will not be delivered after 9 p.m. Malls and movie theaters must close by 7:30 p.m. Private tuitions will only be allowed online from today. The government has directed the PSC to postpone all examinations and interviews for two weeks. With the number of patients undergoing treatment exceeding one lakh, the health department will conduct a group check-up of three lakh people on Wednesday and Thursday.
