Thiruvananthapuram: The Chief Secretary rejected the application of M Sivasankar for self retirement. The application was rejected a week ago. The action is because there are cases of central agencies. M Shivashankar, who was suspended in a gold smuggling case, returned to service after a year and a half.
The Chief Minister accepted the recommendation of the committee chaired by the Chief Secretary that the suspension should be revoked as it had expired. Shivshankar was suspended on July 16 last year following the revelation of links with the accused in a gold smuggling case through a diplomatic channel.
Shiv Shankar was arrested by the ED and Customs and spent 98 days in jail. Shivshankar’s service period is till January 2023.
