In a major boost to the branding of Kerala’s public transport, the legendary duo of Malayalam cinema—superstar Mohanlal and ace director Priyadarshan—have collaborated for a special advertisement film for the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar took to his official social media pages to unveil the news, expressing deep gratitude to the duo for their selfless contribution to the state’s iconic “Aanavandi” (elephant vehicle).
A Nostalgic Tribute
The advertisement, which was recently filmed in Thodupuzha, features Mohanlal reminiscing about his early days. In the film, the actor recalls his journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Alappuzha on a KSRTC bus for the audition of his debut film, Manjil Virinja Pookkal. He credits these early travels for helping him observe people and their emotions, which eventually shaped his acting career.
Minister’s Note of Gratitude
Minister Ganesh Kumar highlighted that both Mohanlal and Priyadarshan took on this project as a service to the state, without accepting any remuneration.
Our own Lalettan has performed in this ad film for KSRTC… Thank you, Lalettan, for these words straight from the heart. I also cannot thank Priyan and his team enough for crafting such a beautiful film,” the Minister wrote in his post.
Key Highlights:
- Goodwill Ambassador: Mohanlal serves as the official Goodwill Ambassador for KSRTC.
- Creative Masterminds: Directed by Priyadarshan, the ad aims to evoke nostalgia and strengthen the bond between KSRTC and the common man.
- Free Service: Both the actor and director provided their services free of charge, with Priyadarshan even offering his studio facilities for the project.
The collaboration has already sparked massive excitement on social media, with fans celebrating the return of the iconic “Lal-Priyan” magic for a noble cause.
