Kozhikode twin Blast: Accused released by High Court

Kochi: The high court acquitted the accused in the twin blast case in Kozhikode. The court acquitted the accused Thadiyantavida Nazeer and his alliance Shafas. The trial court sentenced both accused to life imprisonment in the case.


The accused filed a petition seeking to cancel the punishment and release from the case.  Petition filed by NIA challenging the action taken by the High Court to release the third defendant in the case is Abdul Halim, and the ninth defendant is Abu Bakr Yusuf was also rejected.

The blast occurred in 2006 at Kozhikode bus stand. This was first considered by the local police. Later the NIA takes over the case. This is the first terrorist case taken over by the NIA.
