Increased liquor prices in the state in effect

Thiruvananthapuram:  Increased liquor prices in the state in effect. The rate came into effect in the context of the governor’s signing and notification of a bill that increased the sales tax of foreign liquor by four percent. For selected brands, there has been an increase of Rs.10 to Rs.20. Beer and wine prices will increase from tomorrow.
Yesterday, the Governor signed the sales tax hike bill passed by the Legislature. The price hike came into effect after the notification was issued today. The revised prices have been passed on to consumers. An increase of Rs 10 to Rs 20 for selected brands. Some brands sold through the Beverages Corporation have also increased their prices.
Jawan Liquor hiked by Rs 10 per litre. Jawan Liquor, which used to cost Rs 600, will now have to pay Rs 610. MH brand from Rs 1020 to Rs 1040. Beer and wine prices will increase from tomorrow. The government had waived the sales tax levied on liquor companies.
Due to this, the Beverages Corporation will have an income loss of Rs 195 crore per year. To solve this, the government brought the bill by increasing the sales tax. The government hopes that the loss of 135 crores will be solved through this.
