Harassment case; Court blocked writer Civic Chandran’s arrest

Kozhikode:  The court stopped the arrest of the writer and cultural activist Civic Chandran in the molestation case. The court ordered that Civic Chandran should not be arrested till Friday. Kozhikode District Court will consider the case again the next day.

The court stopped the arrest in a case registered by the Koyilandy police. On February 8, 2020, the young writer complained that when she came to the poetry camp held on the shores of the Koyilandi Nandi Sea, she was sexually assaulted by the civic Chandran.

The complaint was that the incident happened in April when they gathered at Nandi near Koyilandy for book publication. The police report has not yet been submitted to the court.

Meanwhile, the Kozhikode District Court granted anticipatory bail to Civic Chandran in the first registered case yesterday. The court granted anticipatory bail on the basis that there was insufficient evidence against the accused. Survivor has decided to appeal against the anticipatory bail.
