Malappuram: Perinthalmanna police have registered a case against Najeev Kanthapuram MLA in the half-price fraud case that has spread across the state. The police took action on the complaint of Pulamanthol native Anupama. Sections including cheating have been charged against the MLA.
The police are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the half-price fraud case, which continues to receive complaints in all districts of the state. The accused Ananthu Krishnan was questioned jointly by the Range DIG and the Rural SP at the Aluva Police Club.
The current conclusion is that a fraud of Rs 450 crore has taken place. The police have frozen 4 bank accounts of Ananthu. However, the stolen money has not been found in these accounts. The police are yet to get clarity on where the money went. The police are currently collecting information on other accounts, including benami accounts. It has also been found that the money was transferred to the names of relatives. The police are moving to freeze these accounts as well immediately.
