Thiruvananthapuram: After the arrival of monsoon in the state, there has been a change in the rain warning. Meteorological department has announced orange alert in Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Kottayam districts today. Yellow alert will remain in rest of the districts. Widespread rain is forecast for a week. Yellow alert has been declared in 12 districts on Friday. The arrival of monsoon comes while the heavy summer rains continue.
The monsoon that was supposed to arrive on June 1 has arrived 2 days earlier. Earlier, the Meteorological Center had warned that the intensity of the rains will increase during this monsoon season. The rains in June itself are likely to be heavy.
