Thiruvananthapuram: The central team has recommended strict vigilance for three months in areas where bird flu has been confirmed in the state. The team that came to assess the preventive measures against Covid and bird flu was warned. Minhaj Alam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, and Dr. SK Singh, Director, National Center for Disease Control, New Delhi, visited the district the next day.
He said samples should continue to be collected and sent for testing. The team visited Thakazhi, Pallipad, and Kuruvatta areas. The disease has been confirmed in these places. Collector A. Alexander then held discussions with top officials of the Animal Husbandry and Health Department. The team pointed out that strict control and vigilance is required as the tourist areas are open.
