Bird flu has been confirmed in the state

Thiruvananthapuram: Bird flu has been confirmed in various districts of the state. The H-5 N-8 virus was confirmed in the Alappuzha Kuttanad region and Neendur in Kottayam. The last few days have seen a mass death of ducks in the area. Minister K Raju said that out of the eight samples sent to the Bhopal lab, the disease was confirmed in five.

Experts say the virus could be transmitted to humans through mutations. However, the virus has not yet been identified in humans. Vigilance has been ordered in the districts in case the disease is confirmed. Precautions have been taken to prevent it from spreading to other parts.
