KOCHI: Kerala bid a heart-wrenching farewell to beloved National Award-winning actor Salim Kumar today. The funeral was held on his residential premises and was concluded with full state honors. His sons, Chandu and Aromal, lit the funeral pyre.
A massive crowd gathered at his residence to catch a final glimpse and pay their respects to the iconic star. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and senior leader K.C. Venugopal attended the funeral ceremonies, alongside numerous prominent figures from the film industry, politics, and cultural sectors.
Earlier, thousands of people, including leading personalities from the art and cultural spheres, flocked to the Paravur Town Hall where his body was kept for public homage. Remembering the actor, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan emotionally expressed that the demise of Salim Kumar felt like losing a brother.
In accordance with Salim Kumar’s final wishes, the funeral was conducted entirely without any religious rituals. At the conclusion of the public homage at the Town Hall, his mortal remains were draped in the Congress party flag before being moved to the ambulance. The veteran actor passed away late last night, leaving behind a profound legacy of laughter and versatile acting.
