New Delhi: Kerala filed a counter affidavit against the petition filed by the Nagaland government in the Supreme Court in the lottery case. Kerala pointed out that the Nagaland government’s decision to sell the lottery to a private agency was illegal.
Lottery agencies have limited interference in the market. In the affidavit, Kerala stated that it only did to control the violation of the law and that the state can regulate the paper lotteries by law and there is no violation of federal principles in this. Meanwhile, the Nagaland government approached the Supreme Court against the High Court ruling that the Kerala government has the authority to regulate non-state lotteries.
