Engineering access; Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry will continue to be compulsory subjects

AICTE - Kerala9.com

New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has said that physics, chemistry, and mathematics will continue to be the major subjects in engineering courses, but it is not mandatory to have studied these subjects at the plus two levels. AICTE has made this clear in its Approval Handbook for the 2021-22 academic year.

Physics, mathematics, and chemistry will continue to be the main subjects for things like mechanical engineering. However, it is said that students studying subjects like textile engineering, agriculture or biotechnology will have an option.

Until now, only students who have studied Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational subjects along with Maths and Physics at Plus Two level are eligible for admission to BE / B.Tech courses.

The AICTE Handbook also states that the respective universities will offer bridge courses to students who have not studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and are eligible for the course.
