California / Thrissur: Crucial updates have emerged in the tragic deaths of two Keralite women residing in California, with relatives confirming that local authorities are treating the incidents as homicides.
The deceased have been identified as Anjana, a native of Peechi in Thrissur district, and Ann Mary Mathew, hailing from Thiruvananthapuram. Both women were living in the same apartment complex in California.
Following initial investigations, California police have taken another Keralite woman, identified as Anila from Muvattupuzha, into custody in connection with the crime.
According to information conveyed to the victims’ families, Anila allegedly stabbed Ann Mary Mathew to death before killing Anjana by hitting her with a car. Family members noted that the suspect and the two victims were close friends prior to the incident.
Anjana worked as a teacher in California and was married to Vijeesh, a software engineer. The couple has a seven-year-old daughter.
In light of the tragedy, Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Union Minister Suresh Gopi contacted Anjana’s family in Peechi via telephone to offer condolences and assure support. Formal procedures to repatriate the mortal remains to Kerala are currently underway.
