
HARIPAD: Senior Congress leader and United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Ramesh Chennithala has secured a spectacular victory in the Haripad assembly constituency. Cementing his stronghold in the region, Chennithala defeated his closest rivals by a significant margin of 23,377 votes.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate, T.T. Jismon of the CPI, put up a fight but finished in the second position with 44,807 votes. Meanwhile, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate, Sandeep Vachaspati from the BJP, secured the third position, bagging 31,022 votes.
